Debate over human-animal embryo research

I just read this on BBC

Regulators are due to make a decision whether to allow human-animal embryos to be created and used for research. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority is expected to give the plan the go-ahead in principle - but each case will still be judged individually.

Does anyone think that using this kind of research is more "ethical" then using human stem cells for research? I think that experimenting with certain animal-human cells is pushing the limit of what we can except in society. For instance, a lot of people would probably confuse this with man-animal hybrid research, and would be offended by the idea. Any thoughts?
