Iran's air force will not be able to mount any significant sorties. Within the first 24 hours all the military airfields will be rendered useless and the hangers targeted. Most of Iran's aircraft will be destroyed on the ground.

Why does everyone seem to think we will just "plop" a CBG down in the middle the Persian Gulf with a big sign on it saying "hit me I can't maneuver in these waters" Carriers will not get up and personal till the Iran is cleared of threats to them. Take a look at a map. Iran can and would be hit from multiple land bases in the region with the Carrier jets being able to extend their range with refueling. If we do attack Iran this will be the biggest salvo of cruise missiles ever launched.

The first wave of attacks will be the cruise missiles on command and control sites, fixed anti aircraft installations, airfields, naval ports. This will be followed or in tandem with a multiple waves of aircraft coming from multiple directions taking out more and more command and control and anti air sites.

With the air defences and air force taken out and Iran's command and control very degraded, the US can focus on the other second stage objectives. Iran can only mount guerrilla attacks against US forces in the region. Their will be no Iranian "invasion" of Iraq. They will be small scaled events that will not hider the overall progress of the attack. Any large scale movements of troops or vehicles by Iran will result in something similar to Iraq's retreat from Kuwait on the highway.

The US will not have to put "boots on the ground" in Iran. at most we will seize all the Islands off Iran and perhaps do some work around the straits of Hormuz.

Their will be some loss of aircraft, it will probably be well within acceptable ranges and Iran will be defanged.

Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of waiting for the moderates and youth in Iran to overthrow the current government. A clock is ticking and once the buzzer goes off, things change dramatically. We will just have to deal with the aftermath as it happens, it's not the ideal solution, but that rarely happens when it comes to armed conflict between nations.

yes it was debunked along time ago - the words are a near repeat from Ayatollah Khomeini , and properly translated are `the zionist regime occupying jeruselum needs to be removed from the page of time`

please learn farsi before you make comments. the words for wiped from the map do not appear in what he said.

[Errrr, No! Iran has NOT stated it wants to wipe Israel off the map. That extreme porker was debunked long ago.

Pres Ahmadinejad words "Like it or not, the Zionist regime is heading toward annihilation,"

Are you kidding me? He says it all the time and here is one example.

But where has he ever said that Iran is going to "wipe Israel of off the map"?
He has talked about the Zionist regime being the downfall of the state of Israel but has never threatened any attacks or aggression directly by Iran.
It's like someone saying the US empire will fall, doesn't mean they are going to attack it, just that it's rotten at the core and it'll be the decay from within that will cause it to fall. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that
