Mystery Illness Kills 68 In Central DR Congo

A total of 212 cases have been detected in Western Kasai province, said Fortunat Tumba T#oka, the provincial health minister.

A tropical medicine team is working to determine the cause, he said. Victims have died from dehydration following severe diarrhea and high fever.

Three tonnes of medicines have been delivered to the village of Kampungu and Mombo, where the illness has appeared. Medical teams have been deployed in the area.

Hopefully this one doesnt get out into the swift moving population. They cannot begin to make a anti-dote until they identify the sickness.

I havent heard about an outbreak in a while. I remember in the 90's it seemed like there were mini outbreaks of new bugs in Africa couple times a year.
