A controversial plan for CCTV to be used to protect children in the homes of chaotic drug-abusing parents has been proposed by one of Scotland's most eminent drugs experts.
Professor Neil McKeganey, head of the centre for Drug Misuse Research at Glasgow University, believes radical measures are required to protect the estimated 160,000 children in Scotland living with an alcoholic or drug-addicted parent.

I have always said they will be putting cameras in tv's or are they already. Just imagine getting your kids undressed so the police perv can watch your little kids get undressed.

Nice future for this world, and can you imagine the paedos that will love this sort of thing, while they work for who ever watches the homes.

I have said on other threads that i know of someone in uk, thats been watched 24/7 since 1993, and he can never do any thing in peace and privacy. Can this be one of the things that they use to watch him, don't know, but imagine they are putting this in the news now.

Mod Edit: Added Link.
sorry mod, just forgot to put link in.

always have to twist a story....

You're assuming that the cops would be watching children, and that fact that you even bring it up is awful.

Why not just report a story for what it is.

I've been joking with a co-worker of mine that she should install these cameras in her house so that she can keep an eye on her daughter, the phone calls never stop, the kid is always into something, this way she could keep an eye on her at all times.

There's nothing wrong with cameras in homes, oh yeah, unless you're affraid of more rights being taken away and martail law coming, big brother watching your every move... (end sarcasm).

I just don't see anything wrong with it.

If you lived the life of this geezer i knew, you would know that to have no privacy, destroys you as a person. But thats ok, just so long as some paedo cops can look at little kids undressing.

There is no oversite over these people and they do want they want anytime they want to people. But heck it will happen to everyone one day, but your fine with that aren't you.

There's plenty wrong with government owned cctv cameras in homes. No one has the right to watch what I'm doing in my house. Want them on the streets? Fine. I won't be happy with that, but it is public space.

My home is not public space however. What goes on in there is no one's concern but the owner of the house, and the people living there. Or would you be alright with me sticking cameras in your home that I can view any time I want? How about in the bathroom so I can watch you shower? Or in the bedroom, so I can watch you when you're being intimate with your SO?

Child safety is not a valid concern either. Having cameras in a home will not prevent abuse. If there's enough of a problem with a family that they're needed, then remove the child from the home instead of leaving him/her there.

I have no problem with the cameras being installed and used as they are being described in that story.

Why do you keep insisting that there are "cops" who would be looking at the children in the wrong way ( putting it nicely).

It's just some idea some drugs boffin has had. It's not a Government proposal and even if it was, it would be shot down in Parliament. Nice attempt at spin though. You should go and work for Labour.

And I've said to you about this "friend" of yours that he should lodge a complaint with the IPCC and probably have a word with his local rag, or perhaps the Sun or Daily Mail. They'll lap it up.

That is assuming, of course, that your telling the truth or that your friend isn;t some wacked out schizophrenic.

I really fail to see why Police/MI5 would tail someone 24/7 for 14 years without just cause and definitely without doing something about it. 14 years of 24/7 monitoring is ALOT of manpower and resources spent. I fail to see why they would do this unless he was a serious threat. They wouldn't just do it for giggles as you have implied. And 14 years is too long, IMO. The bosses at the top would certainly question such an expensive waste of manpower without any results.

Personally, I think your story is BS. I've asked you several times to prvide something to back your story up. All you come back with is a couple of lines about how much you hate the police and how much they have tormented your "friend", again, without detail or a shred of corroborating evidence..

Is your friend even real?

There is oversight, Andy, as I have stated MANY times to you. You have refused to go to the IPCC or any other avenue for recourse, so I think your telling porkies.

When your exposed to different forms of porn, it effects you. Like how people like seeing people being beat up, on video. People enjoy others pain, and the police absolutely enjoy watching others.

i remember the fbi caught a few years abck some stink of paedos, and the highest group in there were police in the uk. Police are humans too, and they have there pervy pleasures. Watching kids getting undressed is porn, and being exposed to porn long enough twists people, and they will enjoy the power that goes with being a paedo too.

So when this happens what will the difference be between a paedo and a police person watching into home, nothing.

Where is the oversight, and i am not going to get into this argument any more, about the that matter, i am just showing what happens when these groups get powers, they should never have.

I am just gald that these things are being talked about now.

By the way i worked for the police in uk too, so i know what there like. lol

stumason- So if someone you know found a cctv camera in there home in the future in uk, what would you think of that, and what does people in the uk think about if it was them being watched.

Remember the uk, is not the only western power that has this tech. So who here would like to be watched 24/7 in there homes.

What you have done here is select some Professors comments and attempt to pass them off as Government policy.

If I found out someone had a CCTV camera in their house that they didn't put there or know about, i would first go to the police. Secondly, failing a satisfactory outcome, I complain to the IPCC and probably go to the press.

But, this is a non story. Your blowing it way out of context.

Yet again though, you deflect my queries and questions about your BS story and fail to provide anything that would convince me your "friend" has been the subject of surveillance by the security services for 14 years just for giggles.

stumason- How anyone can say its a non story, unless you work for the police or those organisations that will do this sort of stuff.

Oh yey"People will never abuse there powers will they". Pull the other one, people always abuse powers, and it will destroy lots of lives.
