Is this the SR-72? Something seen from the ISS (see link below with video).

What exactly can the SR72 do that a rocket cannot, and faster and cheaper?

If it's a launch platform it can takeoff and land without requiring specialized facilties, land and be ready to launch again in a few days, and do everything a rocket can cheaper and faster.

And... if I might add to what Z said, undetected. Rocket launches are tracked easily by other nations - near orbit aircraft on the otherhand have a stealth advantage.

Is the SR-72 design that Lockheed went public with last year the same program you originally posted about in 2007?

Is this bird flying already? Or in 7 years has it gone from a miniature model of "Blackswift" to a computer model?

I believe they are one in the same.

Is this bird flying already?

Something is... (in my uninformed opinion)

This is very telling. Confirms what I saw.

Cant say what it will have. BUT it needs to be more than ONE Paveway. That capability is already out there - and I know - so an SR72 payload needs to deliver on a significant ROI! It's all about the Bucks, folks! a reply to: northwolf

Ironic that this post is on the 51st Anniversary of the 1st official flight of the SR-71?

On December 22nd, 1964, the SR-71 Blackbird took to the air for the very first time, rising above Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale with F-104 chase planes in pursuit. The occasion would mark the birth of one of the most amazing and renowned aircraft of all time.
