One fact maybe you don't know.
In Crete (greek island) there is one of the largest US military base in Europe. Very close to middle east and because Crete still belongs to Greece it is also 30 minutes away from where we are burning.
It is a shame that no help came from this military base. Every country was sending some help, men, equipment, airplanes and what did the US do? NOTHING !!!!!!!!!
Major wildfires north-east of the Greek capital Athens are burning out of control, officials have said.
The government has declared a state of emergency in the area as fire crews, backed up by helicopters and water-bombers, fight to contain the blazes.
Fed by strong winds, fires have reached the towns of Grammatiko and Varnavas, but no casualties have been reported.
The fires are the worst on the Greek mainland since those in 2007, when 70 people were killed.
'Families died huddled together'
Rescue workers found the bodies of 26 people huddled together near a beach.
Nikos Oikonomopoulos, the head of Greece's Red Cross, told local media the crew searching the area northeast of Athens discovered the bodies, apparently families, together.
The group was found near several burned out cars close to a walled compound, also gutted by the fire.
Multiple fires in different areas outside the capital of Athens seemed to ignite at once, leading investigators to probe whether they were deliberately set.
"Fifteen fires were started simultaneously on three different fronts in Athens," government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos told reporters.
