I doubt they shoot one dart and wait till the effect comes, they shoot at least two to make things quicker, and in this thread, we are discussing about the manner China treats kidnappers, not about politics.

Let's sum our arguments for this topic, basically, you are right, they did the right thing but i suggest they could have used other means. Such subject has nothing to do with democracy or communism...

I just want it confirmed, did you check gs001's posts about the full story behind this particular case?

What are you talking about? The fact that they took 2 hours before taking action and they had a air mat installed? What's that got to do with the fact that tranquilizer darts is a less lethal weapon? Be specific... And yes, i read everything gs and you said but not the others. Get to the point. You disagree with me? Or you think I am denying some facts about how chinese police acts in such situation? I never said what they did was wrong, but killing is never necessary.
And if you're talking about the fact that he didn't die, you must admit that he was hell of a lucky guy, he might have fallen outside the air mat's diameter or died of excessive bleeding or simply got shot dead... It's that the part of the story I'm missing? You people have no pity for criminals but you never mind your own sins.

Of course the Russians have shown just how efficient Ruthless tactics can be against Kidnappers.

Remember the Theatre in Moscow?
Pump in the gas, kill the kidnappers... and kill half the hostages too.

There is a good reason Going In Guns Blazing isn't always the best idea.
You end up killing the people you are trying to save.

I know Russian used gas, but I don't konw they "kill half the hostages" :-)
I know USA govenment always demonize China, whether they also
demonize Russia, only Russian can tell:-):-):-).

Killing is not good, but hesitation is also harmful.
show you another case happened in 2004:
a young lady was kidnapped in her car, police immediately
surrounded the car, then negotiation began,
police could kill the kidnapper at any time if they want,
but they decided to keep on negotiation, finally the kidnapper lost
his temper, he cut the lady's throat with his knife, then poilce
opened fire, but it was too late.... both the lady and kidnapper
lost their life.

the killed lady and her family
