Oh No!
The evils socialists strike again!
A similar thing happened before - only then, Chavez offered to Oil to the Poor of the US. Looks like Venezuela is now a big friend - of the poor
people living in the West. And their numbers are rising.

This ones been coming around for a while now - seems harmless and good for both ends really.
For those not in the UK tho you may not realise what an Oyster card is, it is a very very convenient way to monitor your daily movements (not the
toilet kind!) on busses and the tube.
When I was living in London the cards were just starting to be rolled out, and I was nowhere near as cynical as I am now, but I still saw right
through this scam, a little discount just so that once your registered (and you have to sign up in your name) they have one more tool in the box.
I believe The Streets sumed the whole issue up very well in the final seconds of this classic
song! If you have a listen you will see why I did not embed that particular youtube in this post (language) but it's well catchy and worth
sharing! ~ enjoy.

What you failed to mentioned though is very important. Many of those so called poor who he offered the oil to turned him down.

Well what can I say - I guess PRIDE won in this cases. City of Chicago might turned away the free oil, but did the poor people living in the city of
Chicago? But I really do not understand the Eskimos. Aren't they cold and would like some free oil, to warm their igloos up? Weird...

Actually accepting Chavez oil in America will be deemed as aiding the enemy, so that is why we have groups of thinkers for the poor, even if the poor
still freezes to death.

I feel sorry for the Eskimos really, they have oil in their lands and can not even get free oil from from our own government.
Wait!!!!! they do get oil right? but do they get it free.

Does any one else here think that Chavez will be wanting something in return for the free oil or what ever else he decides to give away? That is
besides being able to track people with the cards.

But Alaskans do get paid by the state to live there and they do not pay any state taxes, the state pays them xxx number of dollars each month for each
member of the family which comes from the Oil industry so in a way you are wrong because they do get benfits from the oil industry.

Marg,
I have been in Texas about twelve years or so now and to my knowledge the citizens of Texas get no royalties from the oil.

From what I've heard it's not alot though, like 1,000 dollars a year.
It may have been month, but I'm thinking it's a year.
I remember this because I had an English teacher who lived in Alaska 10 years,
and he mentioned it.

Heritage has nothing to do with it every Alaskan citizen gets benefits from the oil sales and revenues from the pipe line.
The same can be said for their Salmon subsistance every alaskan citizen gets a certain alottment each year. I know my inlaws send me a lot each year
as a gift they even have their own mobile cannery that they built out of surplus school bus they bought from the pipe line builders when they stopped
construction years ago. Depending on where you live it can go as high as 800 pounds per person which is mucho salmon
Salmon quotas subsistance.

Chavez, Castro's best friend giving away oil. How nice.
Better he take that oil and stuff it- he's el diablo pretending to do good around the world. Sorry, and sorry for those who will have a cold winter,
i mean that from the bottom of my heart, but to accept oil from that snakeoil peddler, is to accept Satan, 666, and the whole kit and kabootle.
I cant stomach EVIL DISGUISED AS GOOD. Dont fall for it.
If he wants to do GOOD, he should help support every one of his people and send aid to Cubans that have it so bad. After all, they're friends.
He extends his claws to the British and Americans so that he can be looked upon as a humanitarian when his own people are starving.

well, it's nice of him.
I refuse to take back my comments about him being undemocratic
Chavez, actually loves the United Kingdom, when he was over meeting the London Mayor he said how much he liked the Queen and the British people.
