SCI/TECH: Spirit Rolls All Six Wheels onto Martian Soil

The Spirit rover, after a delay of several days, has finally left the lander and begun exploring it's Martian enviornment. The rover has an array of scientific instruments designed to find out about the properties of the rocks and soil near the landing area, including looking for signs of past or present water.

It moved a WHOLE 9 feet.

And as I heard it will be there awhile to sample the land around and then it will head for the hills it saw.

The rock in the upper right corner is 4 inches high, and the one on the upper left corner is about a foot long.
