Terry Jacks ~ Seasons in the sun

Goodbye to you, my trusted friend.
We've known each other since we're nine or ten.
Together we climbed hills or trees.
Learned of love and ABC's,
skinned our hearts and skinned our knees.
Goodbye my friend, it's hard to die,
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Pretty girls are everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the hills that we climbed
were just seasons out of time.
Goodbye, Papa, please pray for me,
I was the black sheep of the family.
You tried to teach me right from wrong.
Too much wine and too much song,
wonder how I get along.
Goodbye, Papa, it's hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
Little children everywhere.
When you see them I'll be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the wine and the song,
like the seasons, all have gone.
Goodbye, Michelle, my little one.
You gave me love and helped me find the sun.
And every time that I was down
you would always come around
and get my feet back on the ground.
Goodbye, Michelle, it's hard to die
when all the bird are singing in the sky,
Now that the spring is in the air.
With the flowers ev'rywhere.
I whish that we could both be there.
We had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun.
But the stars we could reach
were just starfishs on the beach

Also Paul Macartney's Mull of kintyre

Mull of kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh mull of kintyre
Far have I traveled and much have I seen
Dark distant mountains with valleys of green.
Past painted deserts the sunsets on fire
As he carries me home to the mull of kintyre.

Mull of kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh mull of kintyre

Sweep through the heather like deer in the glen
Carry me back to the days I knew then.
Nights when we sang like a heavenly choir
Of the life and the time of the mull of kintyre.

Mull of kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh mull of kintyre

Smiles in the sunshine
And tears in the rain
Still take me back to where my memories remain
Flickering embers growing higher and higher
As they carry me back to the mull of kintyre

Mull of kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh mull of kintyre

Mull of kintyre
Oh mist rolling in from the sea,
My desire is always to be here
Oh mull of kintyre

Hurt by NIN really does make you want to slash your wrists if you listen to it in the wrong mood. I heard it the first time the other day and it really does bring on the tears.

What song do you literally think the most recorded (modern) suicides have been "done" to?

And don't get excited, I don't "know" but I have a guess.

Darn well could be, I don't know. That's a good one alright. Opens a whole new genre I wasn't even thinking about.

I was thinking of the controversy around "Don't Fear the Reaper" though. Blue Oyster Cult. Some timely suicides from fans prompted some outrage (shortlived), but they still use it in movies and stuff for those kind of scenes.

But Killy Me Softly definitely has that angle.
Dunno, just thinking.

Ermmm....probably a few of Manson's records and majority of metal bands have been label of making people "kill themselves".......

Staind probably hold the record, most of their songs have a depressing theme to them. If you listen to those songs in the wrong mood, you start thinking about swinging from a rope.

Wow, just reading the titles of the songs on this page nearly brought me to tears folks.

Seasons in the sun - I've cried many times while driving when this song came on. What a sense of loss.

Nirvana's cover of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night?" - The greif in Kurt's voice is amazing. Man, this song just ticks me off.

November Rain - Ah, the power ballad to end all power ballads. A ture gift from Axle. too bad he's an idiot, we'd have more stuff like this.

It's Been Awhile - another song that gets me riled up. Music i can relate to.

Yeah, I've been there, too.

All of my Love-Led Zepplin the story behind it crushes me when I'm down.

Shai mentioned the Bette Midler song from the 9/11 concert, reminded me of that song Hero from that. I forget who sang it?

And one of my favorite songs of all time is Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Terribly depressing song, makes you appreciate everyday that you have on earth.

Alright, I'm gonna go weep into my pillow now people...
