The Presidency of George W. Bush

I attacked and took over 2 countries.

•I spent the U.S. surplus and bankrupted the US Treasury.

•I shattered the record for the biggest annual deficit in history (not easy!).

I just came across this list. It is not so much news but it really should be. it is written in a first person narrative and it is an absolutely stunning indictment of what will probably go down as the worst presidency we the people have had to endure so far.

That is one of the best posts on here i have ever seen. Just put the plain facts in clear sight and let them do the talking. He is the worst ever. Shame you couldn't do a list for Cheny.... Prob wouldn't even told you what he had for breakfast! GET RID!

While I won't argue the bulk of that list, I will say that there are some events that are not entirely his fault and others that were the doings of previous presidents and Bush was just unfortunate enough to see the culmination of many other previous mistakes compounded on his watch.

hell of a legacy nonetheless

AHH... they edited it. It doesn't have the same impact when it is not in your face right from the start.

I set an economic record for the most personal bankruptcies filed in any 12 month period.

Just a footnote to that, he passed a law that basically ends personal bankruptcy. So now, if you have a catastrophic accident or illness and can't pay your debts, you can't claim personal bankruptcy. You got that debt for life, like luggage.

sorry grover but we have some rules about large quotes.

I agree, it was more impressive in its entirety but, as I said, many of the items on that list are not solely his fault and others are not his at all.

One thing I think is funny is that all the blame gets placed on Bush. Don't get me wrong, there are things about him I disagree with (stem cell research, gay marriage, among others....), but everyone seems to forget that every single law that gets passed, has to be voted on. It's not like king GW just shouts, "I decree bla bla bla....." and BAM it's done. You may not agree with his stance on a certain subject, which is fine, everyone has an opinion, but I don't think it's entirely fair to say "Bush did this, and Bush did that..." because along with Bush's name, you need to list all the congressmen/women who agreed with Bush on said subject...(the invasion of Iraq, for example was overwhelmingly voted "Yes" by democrats and republicans alike. Hillary and John Edwards being two of the big names who agreed Saddam needed to be stopped.) Anyway, I could go on for hours about this, but I'll leave it here for now.

You're right, he was'nt able to just decree it.

However considering that the majority of his president (up until November 2006)
the Congress had a large Republican Majority, there was'nt much of a difference,
since they pretty much just allowed him to do what he wanted.

As a person I don't really have a problem with GWB, but his ideology and decisions
I do have a major problem with.

I wonder how History will look at him 100 years from now, will he be seen as the
single worst failure in the history of modern governments and American history,
or will he be all but forgotten, with only a small chapter listing his failures in
the history books.

for all we know, 100 years from now they might be celebrating the things he did. The wars waged, the resulting bases in the middle east etc might pay off down the road. There have been other presidents who were not well received but, when looking back, they weren't as bad as they were made out to be.

there are also those presidents who have been made out to be th greatest thing since Crakeur and those legacies, upon further inspection are not quite so shiny.

history will be the judge. we can only live thru it as it unfolds.

It's the same old tired hate speech the Libs have been screaming ever sense they made up the fantasy about how they lost the first election to a conservative.

Liberalism being the precursor to Socialism is all about control. Control Conservative speech with the so called Fairness doctrine, control what we eat by making certain foods illegal, on and on with the lie that is Global Warming being our fault, Smoking etc.... They just want to completely control the masses that are US.

They lost some measure of control when a true Conservative gained power. That is a hard pill for a control addicted philosophy to swallow.

Of course Crakeur is correct. They are going to blame everything on President Bush, especially this close to the election. Lying is but one of the weapons in their arsenal and they have used it many many times. Just look at the Social Security Privatization BS scare. All lies. Dan Rather anyone?

So the simple fact that many of the listings in the OP are not only not his doing and not his fault and can easily be traced back to another, means little to the Lib/Socialist agenda.

It is not bad enough that they are deluded and following the other Liberal Sheep over the cliff so to speak, they feel obligated to take us with them.

Being blinded by hate as they are, it would be interesting to watch them disintegrate if they were not so dog gone destructive to the nation.

Yep semper hate, hating what we feel bush minor and his policies are doing to this country. I would suggest instead of screaming how liberals hate America and all that tripe, go through that list of bushes accomplishments and try and repute them, or is it easier to scream accustations of hate instead?

posted on Aug, 17 2007 @ 09:33 PM
But Grover that is not my place my friend...

YOU are the one that posted the OP which contains numerous untruths and thinly veiled lies....

That not withstanding the number of things blamed on President Bush that NO president has control over...

Let us examine a few shall we...

•I attacked and took over 2 countries.

What 2 countries are we now in control of? Where is this America #2 and #3?

Also remember all the attacks had the full blessing of congress...

•I spent the U.S. surplus and bankrupted the US Treasury.

During the same period of time, how much has congress spent on PORK? EXPONENTIALLY MORE

So who really bankrupted what? Exactly

•In my first two years in office over 2 million Americans lost their jobs.

And set a record also for the MOST jobs created in an administration...

See it is the little things that you all lie about that are so funny...

•I set the all-time record for most real estate foreclosures in a 12-month period.

Another Socialist/Liberal LIE, unless the Presidency is regulating real estate now a days...

•I cut health care benefits for war veterans.

I am a Veteran, please show me where my benefits were cut. This would be news to me.

I could go on down the list, but it is perfectly clear that it is propaganda and out right lies.

It just goes on and on and on.... Better than half are either LIES or truths that are the responsibility of congress or some other august body and not the Presidency.

In point of fact, my post stands as truth. Liberal/Socialists hate the feeling of loss of power so much that there is no moral barrier they wont cross to get their power back over the American people.

The PROOF is in your OP

Afghanistan and Iraq.

The GAO has explictly stated that even with the Iraq war we would still have a surplus if not for bushes tax cuts.

Why is it poll after poll has people edgy about the economy and their jobs? Yes jobs have been created but at what? For the most part in low end service sector jobs with low wages. Even with the increase in minumum wages, actual wages have been stagnat for years now.

Here is a link to a thread i started about administration opposition to extending the GI bill. As it stands if you are not in the VA system already, it is getting harder and harder for a vet to get service at a hospital.

Again, fluff and deception...

We do not OWN either country, not in anyway shape or form...

I have read all of your posturing on how bad the economy is and simply do not believe you. I choose to believe all of the MANY expert economists that also do not agree...

As for the VA. I will pull a trick from your book and tell you quite simply this... I have gone to 3 different VA hospitals in the recent past and received EXCELLENT service at all three....
Wilmington NC
Charleston SC

As for the GAO, did they say how much money we would have if the Dems quit adding pork into every bill? Yeah thought so...

Sorry Grover but none of it washes as the truth...

Just more hate coming to the surface causing the Libs and Socialists to reach even farther for lies that some in the country may still be blind enough to believe...

It is worth noting that the invasion of Afghanistan and the establishment of a democracy in that country was the right response to 9-11. However with the failure to deny the enemy an haven in Pakistan and the gross incompetents(SP?) with the way post Saddam Iraq was handled has meant that things have only gone down hill since the decision to invade Iraq.

posted on Aug, 18 2007 @ 05:59 AM
I have been treated well at the VA hospitals I have been to as well but that is not what the post said. It said cut VA benefits and if you look carefully semper you will find that bush has indeed opposed increasing veterans benefits consistantly... hell he opposed increasing or eliminating hazardous duty pay on the eve of his war.

Never said owned Iraq or Afghanistan, it said invaded.

The Republicans have been in control of congress for all but the past 8 months of bushes tenure so your complaint of democratic pork doesn't cut it semper. Plus the republicans have not shown much in the way of restraint either.

I didn't say the economy is bad, I have said it is not as good as you make it out to be. With two of the nations mortage lenders either in or on the edge of bankruptcy, with the stock market on a roller coaster ride, with the housing bubble bursting and oil high and the ripple effects those cause. We are heading for a major recession. Besides that the fact does not change that wages are stagnat and while some sectors of the economy maybe doing alright, the average Joe is not seeing it.

Again Wrong Grover...

When will the madness stop and you open your eyes to the truth...

Without going into any further detail, my entire point is made right here..

Quote from you..

Never said owned Iraq or Afghanistan, it said invaded.

Quote from the source..

•I attacked and took over 2 countries.

Any and all disinformation, sidestepping and outright untruths to advance the cause of liberalism/socialism....

The EXACT quote is "TOOK OVER" ...

Meaning to "Control", to "Own"...

As you can see, my quotes are exact, as is my understanding of the entire OP, a bunch of misleading false facts designed to excite the populace and allow the Liberal/Socialist to regain their control of the people.

Let's face it, that entire article is full of out right lies. They even mention the National Guard issue that was put to rest as a total Lib lie with the public embarrassment of the Liberal/Socialist Rather.

In fact if you read it, it is simply one hate filled persons opinion, and a VERY misguided one at that...

But enough from me, I have proven my stance using your own article and even your own words.

My work here is done..

Thank you..

You are the one who is wrong, we invaded both countries and set up first an occupying authority in Iraq and later a puppet government. We are not in control in Afghanistan because of the arrangements we made with the local warlords to switch sides and the fact that NATO has moved in but no matter the spin the fact remains we invaded and overthrew the existing governments. If that is not taking over I do not know what is.

Do you really think that there is a functioning Iraqi government or military?

We are still in control. The Iraqi parlaiment has asked us to leave twice now. Guess who is still there? So much for abiding by the wishes of the Iraqi government.

Your niavity is really sweet semper and loyality is an honorable trait but not to blindness. Every time the news comes on (unless you only watch faux) it proves you wrong.
