Natural gas reserves being stockpiled underground in North Louisiana.

My roomate's aunt lives in North Louisiana. Recently a representative for Centerpointe came by her house (she owns 27 acres) and notified her that they were going to begin storing natural gas in some underground caverns?? that were 3900ft under her property, he said that the government had instructed them to begin stockpiling natural gas reserves. They informed her that they were going to do it with or without her consent. They gave her a check for $2,700 and told her every month they were going to pay her for storage fees.
Has anyone heard of this before and why would they need to start stockpiling natural gas??? what's going on???

Hmmmmm...... Lot of weirdness here. I'm in LA as well. Natural Gas is just that, a gas. I wonder how they would "store" it in a cavern? I wasn't aware that there "are" caverns in LA......



After some quick google research, natural gas "is" stored underground. Found an article from last year about Arkansas NG production doubling..... Not sure if this has anything to do with your thing though.
