The media is full of guys like this jack ass.

Miller is going to be on CNBC. Miller is a comic he is an expert on nothing. Yet now they are going to associate him with the news?
It was fine when it was on HBO. But a news network common!

Wow, this thread has both the sublime and insightful as well the parnoid, hunker-in-the-bunker wackos apparently.

DaRage, first of all, do not believe what you see on TV about the USA. That medium protrays the US usually in it's worst light, because after all, thats what titilates people, both nationally and abroad. Do you want all Americans thinking that Australia is full of Crocodile Dundee's and Mad Max's?

2nd, you need to understand a few things about power in America. The US military is under the control of the Executive Branch of the US government. However, every man and woman who enters the military takes an oath, the very first sentance statesof which states: I do solemly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same". US military officers and enlisted are indoctrinated that while political power is transitory, the Constitution is bedrock on which this country is founded. The idea that the military would support any form of unjustified or illegal form of Marshall Law is baseless; the last time Marshall Law was declared anywhere in the US was during WWII by FDR. Prior to that, Lincoln did it during the Civil War in 1860. And even if a President were to attempt it, Congress would step in and either impeach him, or legislate against him. Any attempt to physically control or remove the power of the US Congress would be viewed as an act of sedition or open rebellion, in which case the Presidents powers would be voided by the other 2 branches of government. I can tell you from my own experience that the US military, when it came right down to it, would follow Congress in an emergency. Don't believe all these Hollywood movies about Admirals and Generals running amok under Marshall Law, dispensing justice as they see fit. Its makes for good drama, but thats about it. Our Admirals and Generals are way too busy trying to defend our nation from foreign forces to be wrapped up in politics and power. In fact, it has been my observation that senior military officers who dabble in politics (while still on active duty) are immediately branded by the public as either a lacky of the administration, or viewed as untrustworthy. The public is content to wait for these individuals to retire before letting them get involved with politics.

And BTW, other people in this thread are right. If you only had some idea of just how many armed local and state police forces there are, you would probably be astounded. Prior to 911, there were over 800,000 sworn in law enforcement officers in the US. Since 911 that number has probably passs 1 million. And thats not including the DEA, FBI, Coast Guard, Border Patrol, TSA, BATF, and God knows who else. I wouldn't want to even try to guess how many private citizens own guns (personally, I own 2 handguns and 9 rifles).

The strength of the US has always been it's steady and strong economy. What some of you are suggesting would totally obliterate that economy, which would totally invalidate the power of those people whom you seem to fear.

Pryos has a good point in plain, But whats to stop them from breaking the oath?

They do have their own opinions, and their thoughts might change. (i'm not saying they shouldn't defend their own country..)

Its all about Constitution, but sometimes it just goes off, Like my countries Monarchy - The Royal Family spent our taxes and get into debt, I don't see it why do we need a Royal Family? What do they do? I admit they are very good public relations but they are a drag on our country, And hold us back.

(Many good laws decided and the House Of Lords rejects them!)

"personally, I own 2 handguns and 9 rifles"
personally, i don't think you really need a armory, Again it's silly - I said this in another thread just a few minutes ago. They are weapons of death. The Army protects you from threats if someone comes onto your land you don't need to blow their head off you, could just shoot them in the arse with a Air Rifle.

About 70% of Americans i know, Go with the Presidents entirely (I am not totally up to American Politics) Even now after Americans are being killed in Iraq. I know a Texan Girl who still supports him. At first instance when Tony Blair wanted to go to war, There was huge uproar and no one liked it - Because inncoent civilians were bound to get killed - like they have.

And you want to still carry weapons, "Death Devices" Most of the world has grown up since those roughs times (when you really did need guns - where it was fighting for land after land - extremely close to your own home) But this is now a distant war.

In Iraq in the British Quater - We don't carry heavy armor or massive guns, We have light patrols and you hardly ever hear a British Soldier being killed After the invasion.

But i think the people of America are too brainwashed, stupid, ignorant, and ...fat...hehe...to do anything about it.

Well, since I'm an American and therefore a total dumbass I guess I have nothing further to post on this thread.
Regards~

IntelGurl: I'm talking about the majority.

well yea, you know the majority of americans very well huh? what an arrogant and ignorant assumption, you just state such to justify your paranoid view, just because you think something, doesnt make it correct. dont insult others just because you feel paranoid or whatever.

Have you seen Jerry Springer? Have you seen some of the lawsuits made in the US? A packet of salt that says "May contain Salt" on it? All the surveys done in America about things going on in the world. Even naming the States of America they still dont know. On Surveys performed in America on current news events, such as things like 70% of Americans thought that Osama Bin Laden has been caught, something like 50% thought Saddam had been captured (before he was captured), I could name more. But from all the surveys i've seen...the majority of Americans are pretty damn stupid/uninformed. BTw...When surveys are performed it involves everyone surveyed. From the results...I feel sorry for you "dumb" Americans.

No offense intended. Go and be patriotic all you want. But Surveys show the truth of what the majority of Americans know and think.

Also...I'm not paranoid. This is a conspiracy forum. I dont see how I am paranoid from reading the results of surveys performed in America that show what the Majority of Americans think.
