Confusing stars and comments

Hi,
I'm already starting to feel at home here and understand most of the things, there are however two things that still puzzle me so if someone can help me out please.

I understand you can vote for a good thread but how do I do that? And can I vote only for a thread or also for a specific post in a thread? And does this have anything to do with the stars?

Second I wonder about the comment system. Is it ment so I can comment on other peoples profile pages or on my own? And what should I comment... on postings or just about anything?

You can vote for a thread by "flagging" it.

Right above the thread name towards the left you'll see this button, along with the number of flags the thread has already recieved.




You can't vote for a specific post but you can give a specific post a Star.

And the comment sections - You can comment on yours, and on everyone elses. People usually just give a quick hello, or picuture or a note or something like that. You can write pretty much whatever you want too.

Above each post you'll see the time tag, and above that tag you'll see an empty star . And you just click it.

There is no stars in the Board Questions, Freshman Forum, and Introductions forums though, so try it out on a different one, like Aliens and UFO's.
