An 88-year-old WWII veteran apparently tried to kill Putin and Ivanov, but was arrested before he got a chance to shoot. He died soon after his arrest. Russian opposition insists that the old man was killed by the FSB. The old man was mad at Putin & Ivanov because of the poor treatment of pensioners and WWII veterans in Russia. Before he was arrested he asked someone on the street if the "enemies of Soviet power" where gathering there. Ivanov and Putin were at a hotel nearby discussing public safety issues. The old man had a charged automatic shotgun Parabellum and five cartridges in his briefcase.

Attempt at Russian President failed, malefactor died in FSB dungeon

13.08.2007

it was in the city of Rostov-on-Don at the end of last month where an attempt was planned at the Russian President Vladimir Putin and First Deputy Vice Premier Sergei Ivanov who arrived to the city for the visiting session of the State Council of the Russian Federation. Security services revealed that Yuri Ageyev, 88, a WWII veteran and dedicated supporter of communists, was the malefactor. He was detained by the Federal Security Service (FSB) and died soon after his arrest

[---]

When the pensioner died the Russian opposition insisted, that Agayev was killed by the secrurity services

I guess we will never know whether this old man was killed by the FSB or not...

I'm surprised over the lack of mainstream media headlines like: "Putin tortured and killed 88-year old WWII hero". How about the other WWII heroes in Russia? Are they as tough as the WWII war heroes of Ukraine? Who goes fighting in the streets with the nazis each year. Still going strong!

Ok, first off, no one has dungeons anymore. Jails, detention facilities - sure. Saying "dungeons" is sensationalism.

Second, he was 88 years old. No matter how you look at it, that`s just plain old. What was the cause of death? Was he fit as a fiddle beforehand?

Third, and most importantly, there`s that whole assassination attempt business. People tend to be detained after that kind of thing. The guy who shot at the white house in the Clinton years is doing 40 years in an American Gulag, while the guy who shot Regan has been undergoing State-enforced Neurological and Psychological "treatments", including forced-medication, and allegedly shock-treatment.

See how that works? In reality, one guy is in prison and the other is in the nut house. For attempted assassination.
