Yone Minagawa, recognized by Britain's Guinness World Records as the world's oldest person at the age of 114, died on Monday evening.

Minagawa, born on January 4, 1893, from Fukuchi town in Fukuoka prefecture, southwestern Japan, became the world's oldest person on January 28 this year after American woman Emma Faust Tillman died that day at the age of 114.

It is very sad that she died, though she did live a very long and (considering
the time period) eventful life.

It's amazing to think that this woman lived through not only the Dai Nippon Teikoku, WWI,
WWII but also lived to see Japan's economy crumble and than reinvigorate
itself and eventually become the 2nd largest in the world.

May the Kami and Buddha bless her.

Lady lived to see a lot in her life. I am sure that much of it, she, at least at times, wished she had never seen at all. May God bless her.

The oldest person who lived, died. The oldest living person is alive right now...they may 8, they may be 80, but when they die, at that point they may be the oldest living person who died.

Yes I agree.

The title of this thread is misleading.
