Hello Meurig.

So so, Secret services having shortages on manpower?? That is going to spell doom for counter terrorism actions on the field because you need people who infiltrate such organisations and give through the locations off where they will meet. That will enable the police to arrest terrorist suspects with remarkable ease.

But iff you do NOT have people on the ground due shortages in manpower.
Then the future will be bleak... Very bleak indeed.

Just to clarify, this is not about the secret services we all think of when we say the term, it's referring to members of the Intelligence Corps which is a regiment of the British army.

They are leaving for better paid jobs in the private sector.

Just thought i'd clear that up before people think MI5/6 are losing staff.

Intelligence Corps officers leaving the service

Maybe they'll get offered higher pay like the SAS were. Doubt it, but it's been done before.

SAS get huge pay incentive to stay

Very true, what we Americans think of when we think of "secret service" is actually performed by the London Metropolitan Police Royalty and Diplomatic Protection Group who protect the Monarch/Royal Family/Royal Family property and palaces, foreign embassies, Prime Minister/immediate family/#10 Downing Street, etc

What if the difference between the British Army's Intelligence Corps and MI5 and MI6? IIRC MI5 is internal operations and MI6 is foreign operations (of which James Bond is part of) but then how does the Intelligence Corps, Police Special Branch's, etc fit into everything.

This is the Int Corps homepage, pretty much sums up everything there.

Intelligence Corps

THE ROLE OF THE INTELLIGENCE CORPS

TO PROVIDE SPECIALIST INTELLIGENCE AND SECURITY CAPABILITIES
IN SUPPORT OF MILITARY OPERATIONS

Security is one of the Principles of War, Information and Intelligence is one of the Functions in Combat

Primary function of the Intelligence Corps: Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Imagery Intelligence (IMINT), Human Intelligence (HUMINT), Operational Intelligence (OPINTEL) and Counter-Intelligence (CI)

Tasks of the Intelligence Corps: Intelligence Collection, Intelligence Management, Intelligence Production and Field Security Advice.

Hope that helps.

CX.

By the way, they do all talk to each other here, so military intelligence will share info if needed.

Thanks for the info CX, clears things up a bit.

Yeah, thats a big problem here. The FBI dont want to work with the Secret Service, the County Sheriffs think the state troopers are trying to take their job away and wont work with them, the city police wont work with the county sheriff, etc etc
