What does hatred have anything to do with the catholic religion?!

You can have hatred of all sorts of things in your heart, regardless of if you read the bible, or are in a religion or not!

Christians hate gays. No, don't tell me your an "open-minded" christian, because according to your own pope, that doesn't even make you a christian anymore! Either stay with your gay hating friends, or join the people who have no particular religion.

If you are a "true" christian, then who the hell are you to moralize people?! You people spread intolerance and hatred against gays all the time! Their life is not hard enough as it is? You chrisitans have to tag them as demons, sinners, or whatever, too?! Not to mention christians very often spy on other christians to see if something they are wearing can be criticized! result? Frustration! Now where does that fit in a "hate-less" life? Nowhere! True christians also reject every new idea that doesn't fit with their own! And you arrogantly say that you know the "truth", while you refuse to evolve or even search for it?! Christians are exactly like atheists, in the inside it's all the same, just with different names! Dogmatic science vs. dogmatic religion. God vs. no God. Both are (usually) narrow-minded!

Geez! Who have you been hanging out with? At this particular moment in time, I don't attend any church. But the one that I did and respected, did not teach hate. And I am not anti-gay! My best friend is a lesbian and I love her to death. I've had many friends both gay and lesbian, so watch who you're throwing stones at. Or are you one of those hit-and-runs? Who tosses a mean remark at me, then disappears, never to return to give me a chance to state my side of things? I'd say you are guilty of the very things you are accusing me of!!!

If you read carefully my post, I was talking about “true” christians not you personally, I never intended to make any ad hominem attacks, I hate those as well. However, when you called me a hit-and-run and guilty of my own accusations, that was an ad hominem, and I don’t like it, so let’s not continue that nonsense!

The only paragraph that concerns you is the one about “open-minded” Christians.

As I said, your very own pope says that if you don’t apply exactly to the Church’s rules, you are not a Christian, I don’t have the source at hand, but it was not so long ago. By calling yourself a Christian, you imply that you are against the “Gay Rights Agenda”. And all that I have described about the “true” Christians is real; this is what you are referring yourself to when you call yourself a Christian!

But, ultimately, this is off subject, you missed my point! What does hatred have anything to do with the catholic religion?!

I see that I am going to have to say this a multitude of times here, but it does no good, because a lot of people read the opening post and slam me, then run off.
My intention in this forum was not to set myself up as better than anybody, because I am not. As I have stated before, my wording could have been better, but there is no edit button to correct it. It came out wrong. I apologize!!! PROFUSELY!

Atlantix assumed earler that all Christians had to hate gays and teach hate or they couldn't be true Christians. That is simply not true. Maybe some do. I don't hang out in those places! The way I read it, is there are no big sins and no little sins. And I know for sure that the bible said, "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory....." So who am I to be casting stones at gays or anybody else. I know somebody is going to jump up and say that I was casting stones at atheists and non-believers. No, believe me, that's not what was in my heart. My wording was wrong. I can't edit it. It should have read, "If you have any hatred in your heart."

I had hoped this would go a little differently than it did, but I've learned a lot from you folks. I appreciate the experience, even if some of it did hurt.
Mostly I've learned what damage people have done in the name of Christianity.

Why just because we are not of the same religion as you we automatically have hate in our hearts? I hate no one or nothing.

There you go misreading what I just said again. I didn't say you had hate. Gee whiz how many times do I have to correct that and still nobody sees it. Or you just don't want to see it.
And also, Atlantix, I do not follow the Pope or his teachings, I am not catholic

okay, I stand corrected on the original issue then. I guess I'm a little sensitive because usually, I am under attack. But I don't understand why you're asking me, what hate has to do with the catholic religion. I don't recall equating the two. And please don't call the pope, 'my very own.' That's not my cup of tea.

To Atlantix:
I think you think, I am catholic. No dear, I am not. If I claim anything other than being a believer, it would be the Interdenominational Faith. Which excludes all man-made doctrine. Does not zero in on hell-fire and brimstone, but believes more so in the love message that Jesus brought. I am sorry that my intentions here were so misunderstood. If all the posts were read through, instead of just the opening post, you would see the many times I've tried to explain and edit the original. I'm really wearying of doing this. But I still welcome everyone and their opinions.

I've never done so much bowing and scraping in my life. If this keeps up, I won't have any eyebrows left. Or hair either. :-) Seriously though I did make contact with the bigwigs (in a sense) and asked if there was a way to edit the original post and see if I could get my point across a little better without offending anyone. Although I'm about ready to jump ship on this whole idea, no matter what happens. Because you all have done a thorough job of convincing me that you are happy just like you are, and it was my mistake, thinking otherwise.

Just keep up the good works Janastarr!!!

Your fruit shows how dedicated you are, and loving people can seem
fruitless, but it is never fruitless if we keep our eyes on Jesus!

I appreciate the support in what can seem to be a dark time. It's just been a bad day all the way around. I'll have some coffee, and I'll get over it.

steer clear of the Old-Testament, and look at the Bible in a new light.

Without the concept of original sin (Adam and Eve), there is no reason for Jesus to show up.

Sorry.

How about we just leave the non-christians alone and they leave us alone? these kind of threads only fuel the hate you mentioned.

Let's see if Jesus agrees with this line of thinking...

"He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation." - Mark 16:15

"Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. " - Matthew 28:18-20

Hmmm...don't see where it says "leave the non-Christians alone and they leave us alone". What verse was that again?

The motivation behind this is not hate, but love as we are to "love your neighbor as yourself" (Leviticus 19:18, Matthew 22:39, Mark 12:31, Luke 10:27, etc.).

If you were rich beyond all imaginings (and perhaps you are, I don't know) would you horde all the riches for yourself? Or, would you share with every person you possibly could?

Neither. One doesn't go to heave because of what they do. Here is how one enters heaven:

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

The only way to heaven is through Jesus....so what about people who have never heard of Jesus..? are they denied access to Heaven simply because they were born in a time or place where the Bible was not allowed...or existed?

and, if these people who never heard of Jesus are judged upon their own hearts and actions, then why isnt everyone judged upon their own hearts and actions..? why the need to believe in Jesus if you heard of him, and nthe rules dont apply if you have not heard of him..?

I think this question is why the original poster wanted people to read the Book. The answers are there:

"Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. Earth and sky fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what he had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." - Revelation 11:20

One can be saved from this judgement by believing (see John 3:16). It sounds like this judgement does not go well for individuals.

And what about someone like Saul, (Paul) who persecuted Believers and non believers alike, then became a believer himself. He will go to heaven, while some of the people he killed probably will not..?

Possibly. Not for us to decide.

And people that work in Aids Hospices, or soup kitchens for most of their lives...they are the epitome of what Christ asks us to be....are they denied a place in heaven becase they are not born agsain, while a mass murderer born again in jail will go to heaven because he is..?

Are you saying you'd be a better judge than God? Somehow I doubt it

There are no years missing. If you read Luke, you would know that. Or perhaps you already do?

Too many serious questions and conflicts that do not have answers...this occurs when parts are missing.

Take one at a time. Ask until you get the answer. God is open for questioning at any time.
