In a move with wide-ranging implications, a North Mississippi judge Thursday banned outdoor school activities in DeSoto and five other counties in his district because of the searing heat.

The order by Chancellor Mitchell Lundy of Grenada County -- a decision that a legal expert called unusual -- halted outdoor football practices as schools gear up for the start of the prep season the end of this month.

Also affected until the heat relents are volleyball and band practice, recesses …

Question, Since when can a Judge take it upon himself to order schools that it is too hot to play? I thought those decisions were up to school officials?

It would appear we are already in a police run state with judges like this on the bench.

It is strange that this judge just issued this edict without being asked to or any case involving it in front of him.

well another person in power abusing their position. even though it was probably really hot. but case in point he should focus on his job, not other peoples jobs.
