That's not an original Christian view, it was a Jewish concept to attempt to calculate the aged the earth using the Bible as a literal text. The Christians just borrowed this view from the Jews, since Christianity was created from -- and is closely related to -- Judaism.

And there really aren't too many Jews or Christians who still believe this. They have come to accept their scriptures as allegorical more than literal -- but still just as valid.

It's interesting that Adam & Eve, Eden, the forbidden fruit, etc are all part of the Muslim Koran, but it never says that they were THE FIRST people.

Cool video!!! But it is a representation of a diferent type of impact. A cometary debris impact is a more spread out affair with multiple air explosions more like Tunguski. It would cause what they call an Extinction Level Event (makes it sound like a rock concert or something) where life in an area is obliterated and then comes back. Like the one that killed off the dinosaur, but much less severe.
The event that the Japanese video shows is a planet killer. I guess that it scares them so much that they can't call it an event. A meteor that size breaks through the crust and mantle, striking the core. The entire planet flash boils and becomes a large orbiting lava ball. The atmosphere is ripped away and then fused into the rock as oxides and nitrates. Because of the impact, the earth's orbit changes, and the moon is either lost or comes into the gravity of Earth and eventually crashes into the planet as another planet killer meteor, depending on where it is during the first impact. There is no life left, and when it cools, the Earth is left as a desolate rocky lava feild with no atmosphere. Another premise states that the planet also has a fair chance of either ripping free of it's orbit and becoming a rogue or losing it's orbit and falling into the sun. Either way, it's sure to really ruin your plans for the weekend.
