I am not a Mormon (well, I'm an apostate), but most of my family is. I can tell you they're definitely not racist, and they are very kind and loving people in general. This will probably piss a lot of people off, but they're actually much 'better' or more 'moral' people in general than most christians I know. While all of the Mormons I know live everyday like they are Mormons, most Christians fit the bill of "Sunday Christians", meaning the other 6 days they hang out and 'sin' just like the rest of us.
As to the belief system, well, I've read enough about it that I know it's total crap, but if it makes them happy, then hey', it's their deal.
Keep this in mind though, Mormonism or LDS is the fastest growing major religion in the world, with more active members then there are Jews. It is not just a white man's religion anymore. There are missionaries in countries all over the world recruiting people everday. On top of that, Mormons usually have HUGE families (my Grandma has 9 brother and sisters for example), so through massive reproduction, they multiply their numbers exponentially. At the current rate of expansion, they are going to be on the same level in this country as Christian Evangelicals, and like Evangelicals, they will all unite and vote for the SAME canditate. Hence having a huge presence in determining who wins the presidency. A new term in politics is going to be the "mormon" vote.
Praise and rejoice my brethren, salvation is at hand.

This is the most crazy movie I ever saw.

For one I could make a film out of any religion and make it look just as bad as this one makes Latter Day Saints look. All organized religions (organized!) have strange beliefs. The whole thing makes me sick. This video is insane in my opinion.

There is to many things not right with this video and I could find a dozen good ones about LDS people to every bad one.

Why is it that anyone that doesn't follow your (whomever that may be) religion a cult?? Do you know what I mean. I believe the biggest cult on the planet is the religion called Christianity.

The LDS do not believe they are God's but are like Gods. Christianity it self says that we are to be Christlike. Plus the bible does say that people are to tithe. Just because LDS stand by this does not make them bad people. Every religion has rituals, baptism, communion etc...

People are suppose to have a right to choose what religion they follow and the only people I see not bashing other religions is LDS. I have never heard a single one of them say a bad world about any of the others.

What I really believe this is, it is about fear. All religion's are based on fear. I do know this though. LDS people strive their hardest to follow the 10 commandments and the covenants set by the God of the KJV bible. They are not afraid of God and love God whole heartedly, and teach to love and help others. More with them than any other religion I have run into so far in life.

This video is pointless and ridiculous in my eyes, and if you believe it without studying the facts, facts, maybe talking to a LDS, you might learn more than you thought you would. They are good people helping many.

They were the first to help out when Katrina hit New Orleans, and they gave without conditions. They just wanted to help those in need.

Be happy their are a lot worse (by opinion) religions out there in the world.

"What if the people who are less fortunate happen to be black? "

This is no longer a belief or truth about LDS people. That was corrected in the late 70's.

I'm a Latter-Day Saint, If we're a cult then quite possible 99.99987654321% of the religion left on earth are cults as well.

There is nothing we're hiding in the Temple ceremonies. You only think we are because you are not a member of the church and cannot obtain access to our marriage rituals and baptisms of the dead.

Wow I can't believe how many lies are out their about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. If you really want to know what they believe in why not go strait the source. Talk to someone that is LDS (morman) or go to their website. www.lds.org there you can read all about them and what they believe. You can read talks by their present and past prophets. They are good people that are taught to love everyone and to serve others. They are christian hence the name of the church. As far as them being racist that is completley false. They have several missionaires all around the world and accept any race to me a member.

From what i've gathered, the principle difference is that Mormons believe in the holy trinity as three separate entities, and Christianity defines it as one.

This is a bigotted statement. Christianity has no standard regarding beliefs of the trinity or lack thereof. Several faiths believe in the three separate entities, and several consider the trinity belief to be herasy. The bible itself doesn't make any direct reference to the belief, and "supporting" scriptures that hint at it are either articles of the KJB that do not appear in the original texts or debatable stretching of the meaning of texts.

i am also a mormon 'apostate' for very good reasons, mormonism IS a cult, undeniably. they are the farthest thing from christianty, almost every belief they have is in contradiction with the bible and established christian doctrine. i will admit that some "chrisitain" groups are on the fringe of being cultish, but most of those i would not consider to be orthodox anyways. for those of you defending mormonism on the basis of the fact that a lot of them are good people, i'll give you that. however that does diminish the contrast that is not apparent from the outside. and further, it does not diminish their secret pagan rituals, their ties to masonry, their cloaked polytheistic view, their works based salvation, their belief that man can become god, the racism, violence and polygamy the fills their history, their brainwashing indoctrination, their belief that god was once a man and that he had a god and so on, their belief that satan told the truth in the garden. i could keep going. but i would think that this is enough, anyone who believes something i've said is incorrect, correct me, please. im also aware that some of these issues will not be an issue if you aren't christian, but if you are, it becomes very offensive especially when they front as a christian denomination, and even more if you have to deal with them on a day to day basis. (now that im living in utah :/) so if it's not a big deal to you atleast have the courtesy to try and understand it from a christian perspective, or even from that of a person who is against mindless submission to any legalistic organization.

The morman religion was founded after Joseph Smith " translated some paparis scrolls saying he had all these revelations. This was before egyptian hieroglyphs were readable. He said that he was told by god shortly there after to start the "true" religion. All he did was borrow from seudo christian denominations and sects like the moasons so it wouldnt be that culturally shoking. What is crazzy is that after the rosetta stone discovery he wasnt exposed, the morman folowers passed it off as faith , and insisted that the translations by scholars were not correct.

The mormon religion is a sham. A fake religion based on fake bible that was plagiarized from a book of fiction. Want proof?

One example is that I've observed a connection between sexual repression, and forms of sexual derangement such as homosexuality. The Mormon church goes to great lengths to insure that its members(no pun intended) are sexually repressed by striking the 'fear of God' into them about the so called evils and repercussions of going outside the bounds of the marriage institution. I think there's definitely a link between sexual repression and so many Mormon missionaries turning gay during or after their 'missions'.

Now before anyone gets up in arms about the homosexuality thing... there is no denying that homosexuality is form of sexual derangement, whether acquired over multiple lifetimes, or acquired in this life. I also have to shake my head when people compare forms of sexual derangement to things like racial identity, which are two totally different ballparks(so don't even go there). Anyway, I'm not saying that homosexuality is "wrong", I'm simply saying that it's unhealthy. And although race and sexual derangement are two more or less separate issues, I will say that racism is indeed wrong and is something that Mormon scriptures condone.

Is it just coincidence that so many Mormon missionaries are turning gay, and that Utah has the highest rate of anti-depressant and pornography consumption in the nation?(Utah seems to be the epitome of Idiocracy) The fact that Mormons are told that "adultery" and/or" fornication" is the worst sin next to murder(there is a Gnostic implication here, an implication that the Mormon church has never openly addressed of course) is definitely going to cause a whole lot of neurosis, considering how impossible it is to repress one's sexual energy for longer than a few months max(for males anyway), ESPECIALLY considering that the Mormon church, as far as I know, does not give its church members sexual-transmutation practices such as Pranayama.

Anyway, it's not just the Mormon church's fault that Utahn's, Mormon and non-Mormon alike, and people in general, are so messed up. There are different factors, and the Mormon church is just one part of the problem. Another huge problem is the war mongering elitists that heavily influence the society we live in:

Homosexuality exists in a society to the degree that a society embodies war.

just as in every sect of every religion, there is a good and a bad side.

A friend of mine is a mormon, and I had no idea what they were about until I got some good insight from him.

Family is absolutely number one. they sacrifice everything for family and do evrything they can for them. the mormon religion is a tight knit group. this is not a bad thing.

he kinda tried to convert me from being an agnostic. I obliged him and read the preface to the mormon Bible.

Alls I can say is wow
. It was a sad and eyeopening revelation to understand what they believe. I find most religions rely on ignorance of masses to recruit and keep their congregations, but what most mormosn belive is so far out there, it almost makes on wonder if they have sanity issues.

Overall, in my opinion it is a "to eachs own issue" and as long as it does not affect me, i have no problem with them...

FACT! Mormons believe in Christ therefore they are Christians. (hello the official name of the church has "Christ" in it...DUH!)

FACT! Mormonism is not a cult since one is free to leave the church at anytime and they will not be bothered again if requested (all you apostates out there prove this point)

FACT! The Mormon church and its members are the most prepared church than any other church for situation X

FACT! The Mormon religion actually makes sense and coincides with science hand in hand.

FACT! you will not learn the truth about the church from the internet or other churches. If you want the truth ask a member. (if you have enough guts)

Response to your points in their order:

1) That makes absolutely no sense. If my neighbor believes that Christ was a renegade leprechaun, wears all green and considers Ireland his personal mecca, is he a Christian?

2) Can you please provide some support for that statement? To the best of my knowledge there is absolutely no evidence for the claims of the Church of Latter Day Saints that lost tribes of Israel made there way to America in 650 bc.

3) You should absolutely speak to an LDS member and couple that discussion with additional research outside of their church.

Ever seen the movie, "Star Trek- First Contact" ? It may be science fiction, but the Mormon Church, and its members act just like the borg. No individuality, no freedom to question, they are like what Jesus said, "If the blind lead the blind, shall both not fall into a ditch ?"

I grew up Pentecostal, converted to Mormonism, spent 25 years in Egypt, the mormon church's leader is like Pharaoh, and all his subjects are his busy little slaves building their so-called "Temples" and church buildings, which they call chapels.

"Come into my parlor said the spider to the fly." Thank God i don't live in Egypt anymore !!
