It's true our so called "modern" and "advanced" technologies are nothing but a bunch of self-licking appraisals of some dumb mechanized junks.

Still, nothing beats the satisfaction of shooting a high caliber gun and hitting the target.

Looks like military weapons used for border patrol are getting really advanced quick. This thing is amazing, it makes people really sick with vomiting and disorientation as a result of contact. This high powered LED is compared to a Star Wars lightsaber! New World Order is proving to be going as planned.

Sounds like First Earht batallion stuff to me...

www.au.af.mil...

This is an interesting article. Reminds me of psychotronic weapons, if these do exist, they seem to be working now to scare a person into freezing not allowing them to pull the trigger.

Wouldn't a flash grenade be, just as if not more, affective as this hi powered flash light?

My guess is they will shrink the unit, add a ARMS mount and put them on M4s..Much easier to shoot at a blind suspect with a gun when he cant see you to shoot back. If it could create enough pain the suspect might drop knife, or gun and claw at eyes making it much easier to cuff em.

Forget knives, the projectile weapons are proven to become obsolete in literature, where all of the greatest sci fi writers included energy weapons in their stories when it comes to riot control and warfare. In the next 5 years, pistols will be obsolete. The logic of still using projectile weapons well into the 21st century is ridiculous and so the writers would never consider using them in sci fi stories.

While technology will progress in the centuries to come it will also remain a fact that the surest way to kill or injure an adversary is to subject that adversary to a large dose of kinetic energy; The simplest way to do that at this time is with a firearm.

Until such time as laserbeams, heatbeams, soundbeams, and such types of weapons are manportable and can defeat most body armors, goggles, and ear protections, firearms will still be with us. When the beam weapons become man portable and can be protected from EMP effects, Water effects and such and can deliver a kenetic force that can kill or injure and adversary then the day of the firearm might be over.

The assault rifle while at the present is reaching the pinnacle of its developement, (not really to much more you can do with assault rifles in thier present form), will be around for a while, and before we get to beam weapons, it is much more logical that we will have gyro jet weapons and rifles that propel thier bullets with an electomagnetic field that sends the bullet down the barrel hence needing no gunpowder.

Firearms will most likely be around for atleast another 100 years, until such time as the wizbang weapons can be subjected to mud dirt seawater electricity and dozens of other possible causes of malfunctions the simple mechanical firearm will rule the battlefield.
