Read thoroughly. There are different opinions as to what exactly "adoption" means here on ATS/BTS.

My take on it is that a person who has been around here (or even other forum message boards) can show a new member around and help when there are questions. It's rather informal really. The site is full of people that will help you. Just ask around.
