Missouri congressman and White House
contender, Richard Gephardt said that the U.S. should be doing more to fight the causes of terrorism throughout the world such as poverty and
ignorance. "You've got to deal with the symptoms," said Gephardt, who took some time from the campaign trail to meet with policy analysts and
business leaders.
In his speech, Gephardt described the Bush foreign policy team as "cold warriors brought out of retirement" who had isolated the United States. He
said the election in November would decide how or whether the United States would advance American democratic values around the world.
