India is reviewing feasibility proposals to launch a man into space around 2015.

Seems everybody who wants to be a somebody is now wanting to achieve an independant manned space-faring capability.
Makes you wonder if they've all stumbled upon some invaluable resource out there of the likes of He-3 or better!

2001:A Space Odessey anyone?

I'm really keen on getting my hands on the proposal to see what kind of orbiter was proposed.
Would it be on the lines of the Soyuz-esque Shenzhou?
Or would it be designed more along the lines of the early NASA program.
Or would it be a meld of the two?
Or something completely new?(I doubt this one though.. too risky)

Anyways, if the govt gives this the go ahead then we can all look forward to a nice healthy space race involving the new members as well as the established ones.

EDIT: Also if India pursues this seriously, I think this will totally prod Japan into looking into its own manned program.

Very cool to see that India is going ahead with its space program in such a way.

I wonder if they plan on further developing there AVATAR hypersonic spaceplane design for this.
