Rap?

Hmm, I don't think it's very smart to generalize a whole genre.

I am not a fan of the mainstream Rap that is played on the radio and I'm not a fan of the mainstream Metal that is played on the radio. The good stuff, the stuff that has a meaning is almost always the underground material -- the artists that produce music for their love of making music... Not to get rich. :-0 You have those types of artists in every genre.

It's all "linguistic metaphysics practiced by the mystics".

I feel a bit sorry for those that are only exposed to mainstream rap. The generalization that was made is fairly accurate for this mainstream crap being played. But there are MANY artists that don't conform to that stuff. They are in it for the music. Check out any of these artists: Sole, Atmosphere, Sage Francais, Qwel, Immortal Technique, El-P. Those are some artists worth listening to if you would like to listen to meaningful lyrics with compelling beats.
