For the last two weeks on Saturday, I have caught a combined sixteen trains coming through town. On July 21, I caught seven trains going through town. Again, on July 28, I caught nine trains through town. So far today, I've got four trains. Equally split between two coal trains(U719 and T337-01) and two grain trains (G858-31 and the G884.) All engine numbers are CSXT numbers.

E = Empty coal
T and N = Loaded coal trains
G = Grain
Q = Q series mixed freight trains.

Thats interesting that you are also logging the cargo that you see.

Have you ever noticed an abrupt change in train types, or cargo types?

That information could be very telling as to what's going on locally, and at the destinations of these trains.

Kind of cool..
Do you still take photos of them?

I have never really noticed any abrupt change in types of the cargo. WIth the exception of an occasional military shipment (nuclear waste.) The grain trains that roll through here usually go to the grain elevators in North Carolina for production and transport by ship overseas. The coal trains have a destination of either here in West Virginia, New York, or Virginia. There is one train series that I forgot to mention. Those are the eastbound and westbound "K" series bulk commodities trains that come through here. The only bulk commodity that we get are the molten sulphurs bound for Virginia and North Carolina.
