Topics go up in a couple of hours.

Everyone did a great job- the judging was very difficult.

Congrats to Justin and Semper Fortis!

The topic for this debate is "Non homo Sapien civilizations rivaling our own preceeded mankind on Earth".

Tuning Spork will be arguing the pro position and will open the debate.
Justin Oldham will argue the con position.

UPDATE: I request a differant topic as I can find no credible source(s) to help me to form a coherent arguement. I know that this is a conspiracy discussion site and that all speculation is fair game. I also know that this is a topic that readers would love to see discussed in a level-headed manner.

But, I really really really must protest. The dearth of evidence available to me is staggering. If I were to debate this topic I would be reduced to pulling facts out of my exit.

UPDATE: I've decided to give it a go.

UPDATE: I concede. In my opinion, this argument wasn't debated the first time 'round not because someone was too busy but because there is no argument to be made.

Don't think of it as having to rewrite history. Think of it as a discussion of probabilities for a time from which very little evidence survives.

My universal debating advice, to every participant on every subject, is to research like hell and argue outside the box, and your opponent will spend the first half of the debate just trying to figure out what hit him.

H2H and podcast debates etc were not initially counted, but I think I probably should go back and count them.

The only reason I can imagine that doing so would be ill advised is if that placed just a few debaters far beyond others in the rankings- it is preferable to have the system begin with everyone in striking range of eachother, so that the system encourages competition rather than discouraging people.

I'll have a look at it this evening if possible, and if I can't finish it tonight it might take a week.

You are probably correct in your assessment...

We are trying to GET more new members into the debates and the last thing we want is to discourage them by one or two members having so many points...

No matter who won, or for what reasons, having read the debates, they were FANTASTIC...

Very thorough and well thought out. The intent of the debater was always clear and the writing was top notch...

This is one of the finest areas that ATS has to offer the members in both contributing and simply "Denying Ignorance" as it were...
