Everything started when I watched a YouTube video with Dr. Quantum explaining the "Double Slit experiment"
(Link)
Basicly in short, it explains how electrons, or matter, exists in every possible location at once. Untill it's observed by someone/something in any means, then it "takes form" in our universe, dimension and reality.
It really got me thinking!

After a little snooping around in the subject, following various YouTube links, I found parts on YouTube from a movie called "What the bleep do we know"
(Link, IMDB)

After getting my hands on and watching the full movie my mind was spinning out of controll. It all seemed insane!
It took me 2-3 days before my mind had settled down and last night when I got into discussion with my girlfriend that lasted well into the night I came up with a few weird ideas!

First lets explore the possibility that everything that can happen, does in fact happen. At once! It's my belief that the global consciousness of all living things decide, conscious or unconscious which of the different reallities we actually perceive as real, together.
What? What's this global consciousness you speak of?
Well I tought it was weird that we all percieve the same (or very close anyway) reallity. For example if I flip a coin quantum theory imply that it will land on both sides and none. But we both will only see one and the same result. This is what leads me to think we are somehow all connected!
I am not alone in this.
(Link, Wikipedia)
Also google Global Consciousness for more.

So where am I going with all this? Well, what if we can activly change reallity with our consciousness? As part of the global we should have influence over the world around us in a very real way. The movie has an example, an experiment where they took 2000 (or was it 4000?) people to Washington DC, with the aim to meditate every day over a period of time. It was believed that this would lover crimes by 25% based on previous stats. It did indeed work according to the movie during that time crimes actually went down! This shows that surely we are all connected in some way!

So if you can convince your mind 100% of something it should happen! However I dont think our brains and knowledge have yet evolved to this point where we can consciously change our mind.. I mean try it yourself, try convincing yourself of something "impossible", it's in fact "impossible" to do, with our minds at this stage anyway..
But wait, there are crazy people out there that do in fact believe 100% in something and still.. nothing!

Well I believe it's a balance in the Global Consciousness wether something actually takes place or not. If many people believe it, it will happen. I also believe it's logical to asume it's connected to how big of an event we are talking about. Example, changing reallity in a way that effect you and ONLY you might be possible on a personal basis. But to do bigger things you need more % of the Global Consciousness. Let's take planecrashes as example, the % risk is very low that a plane will crash. Could this % reflect the number of people that hystericaly believe they will die everytime they fly? Maybe?

Sofar all of the above atleast for me is one possibility. Now I come to something else that I reflected upon to amuse myself.

About God!

Let me just say I am not religious. I dont nessesarely believe what I am about to write but I always love to explore possibilities and this is what I got.

Let's say first there was God. I will refer to him as he even tho I dont believe God has any particular gender, should God exist at all.
Being alone in the universe God would controll 100% of the consciousness, or Global Consciousness for that matter.

This would by my theory above, state that he has total controll of everything. He see every possible reallity and can activly choose any one of them into existance all the time. Effectivly creating things with pure will, since if he can imagine it it's a possibility hence he can choose that one also.
Seeing every possible reality aswell as activly choosing among them is indeed as close to God as I can imagine.

Skip forward a bit. He creates Adam, but since Adam is a conscious beeing, God gave up either 50% of the Global Consciousness, or maybe only a small part of it (more likely). Effectivly loosing the 100% controll he once had. This could explain the errors I personally feel are taking place after this, like not creating both Adam and Eve at once since God should have known Adam needed Eve right away. Anyhow no problem he creates Eve. The problem is as he goes on creating more and more conscious beeings, like animals, trees and plants (yes it's debated by some that a single cell is the smalles conscious beeing there is. If this true or not does not matter right now and here..), well he loose more and more controll.
Actually this means nobody longer has controll singlehanded, so even with the best intentions from here on things can go wrong unintentional.

So, over time the more people and animals reproduce God loose more and more of the controll he has. This could explain the logical errors in the Bible as why did he have to create the Flood, why the Babeltower and so on when he should have known the outcome of everything from square 1.

I need to point out I am not saying this to discredit God or offending anyone, I am just putting forward a theory about God that I have not read before.

Finally he has lost so much power by holding only a smaller % of the Global Consciousness that he creates Jesus (NT) and so on, to rally worshipers in an effort to regain more power and correcting things or whatever.. well.

So, todays world some X-years (let's not debate!) into the future we are some 6.000.000.000 people. Account for animals and plants or trees if you wish, and we make up a pretty big Global Consciousness!
It's my belief that since less and less people believe in a single God, or The God at all he has lost all imidiate power over the Global Consciousness in the Universe. Since no single religion, no matter which one might be right, have the majority of people believing in it.. My theory pretty much holds water in any case I think.

About The Future..

So there are a few possibilities here. Someday in the future enough people and therefor a large enough % of the Global Consciousness believe in God, and the right one at that to restore his power.

Or we evolve and learn how to activly controll the Global Consciousness together. And can start controlling the Universe more and more.
Who knows maybe we together can evolve into a new sort of Global Consciousness as a whole and we do infact together form a new God, and start over?

WEll look i have something to say. LEave god out of it ;-P and stick to scientific facts.

You're talking about quantum physics... Science. You dont know anything about god... Dont bring god into it ;-P

Look i didn't read all your post but i also viewed the dr two slit experiment thingo and yeah that blew my mind for about a week, and in that week i was reading up more about it. Just realise that when the electron (tiny piece of matter) was getting "observed" it was actually getting "Measured" meaning that to find out what slit the electron was going through they couldn't use a microscope, but they had to use other means and these other means meant interacting with the electron which they believe collapses the wave function of the quanti (electron) and is henceforth a particle (electron). Thereby taking away the seemingly conscious interaction that was us medlesome humans viewing an electron and the electron knowing we were watching so its not anywhere else but there...

However...

That doesn't explain such phenomenon like having a randomness generator working on a computer spitting out either a 1 or 0 ie a yes or no at random. Then having someone sit in front of the computer and thinking yes, 1, and the randomness suddenly tilting to the 1, yes side more than before. Or how saying positive words to a plant can help it grow, while saying negative words to a plant can stun its growth. Or how sayig a prayer such as "bless this water, make it pure", can actually make the water cleaner and change it's "stucture" if that can be said about water, lol.

So yes i believe we have an influence on this "reality"

If you're using this example to show opposition to the idea of a collective consciousness, i'm not sure i follow. It's entirely possible that the electron acts differently when we observe it BECAUSE the moment we observe the electron and become aware of it, it becomes aware of us. I'm not saying the electron is a living thing, but if everything is made up of energy, then maybe ENERGY is the life, the thing we are all a part of. An electron could exist as an individual and also as part of a whole.

However...

Random Event Generators are the single closest thing to hard evidence supporting the conscious minds influence with physical reality. It's some of the most interesting reading around, if you can get through it.

This reminds me of a TV experiment with the national lottery numbers as the test. The show (I think) was The Paranormal World of Paul Mckenna. My memory is a bit sketchy but I think he pulled six numbers from a hat and showed the audience and the viewers at home and asked everyone to focus on them for the following weekend lottery. All six numbers didn't come up but the closeness of the winning numbers to the ones in the test was close and SOMEONE decided that this experiment was not to be repeated. Strange thing is I can't find anything about it on the internet. I wonder why??

I don't necessarily believe everything I think either. But I think it's okay to think about them and discuss them. You never know, we might not be accurate but we could be very, very close to the truth.

I think it was Edgar Cayce, during one of his trances, who said that in the beginning there was only one entity (god) who because he/she was lonely, broke off parts of himself then they became independant thinkers and creators and this multiplied till we're all here today with all our problems. I think it's highly possible/probable we do create reality with our thoughts and emotions. The reason we don't get everything we want is because we can't control these emotions and this causes what I'd call a mis-firing of our desires. Kind of like, say, you've always wanted this fancy car. You dream of it for years and years and then.., your neighbour gets one. Bummer.I think that focussed thoughts, with a calm and clear mind, can bring your desires a lot closer. But I might be wrong. lol. Great thread btw.

I'm doing that every time I type something on this little keyboard in front of me. Consciousness (and unconsciousness) is constantly changing reality.

But let's see you fly like Superman. Ah-hah! That's where you reach the limit of your personal ability to modify reality, because this is not just your reality, it's everybody's and everything's, from the tiniest little bacterium on your tongue to every skin cell in your finger, to the biggest galaxy-sized brain 100,000,000 light years away. It's everybody's reality and you're just a tiny little insignificant part of it that will live out your short little life and die and it won't even make a ripple.

The biggest, most meaningful thing you could do in your personal reality is to kill yourself, and even that means so very little in the grand scheme of things it's really not even worth the bother.

I don't think anyone knows anything about "God" even if it turns out there's something like God. It's arogant in my mind to pretend to comprehend something that vast. I just put forwar a theory not claiming it's the truth. I also stated that I did not want to offend anyone, believers or not.

Well as I wrote, I think that the bigger the change the more of the unified consciousness need to believe it to be true, or "will it into existance" if you like. If quantum physics turn out to be on the right path I don't find it impossible to, for example fly in the future. Should our minds evolve to the point where we become aware of the potentials around us instead of seeing the one potential allready in existance.

---------

Yesterday me and my brother were watching the movie "What the bleep do we know" again, he hadn't seen it before. While watching and talking a new aspect came up.

Look, basicly we can't ever prove other peoples consciousness. Atleast not with todays science. We can look at each and every atom in the brain but we'll never find or explain this "consciousness". The old "it could ALL be in my head" argument could very well be true.

Bare with me here.. Well, quantum physics state that all the different potentials exists at once. What if each and every one of us individually live in our personal potential existance and timeline?
I could very well be the only conscious beeing in this particular potential existance while you could live in your own similar, or not, reallity. We would never know, it's also not impossible that changes I make in my reallity influence "stuff" in the other potentials.

This would indeed mean that you are in controll of your own existance. I could even take it as far as saying we all live forever in our own reallity?
Untill we can prove others consciousness we can't disprove that we are all "imagining" the world around us, so people dying could just be our mind making it up. I mean technology right now points to a possible future where we can extend our lifetime indefinatily. What if this is my way to set up my reallity in order for myself to live forever?

Damn the more I think about this the weirder everything gets. Anythings possible!

I need my morning coffee now

I wasn't opposing the idea of a collective consciousness. However what i was saying was that for us mere mortal humans to "observe (ie. measure)" where the location of an electron is at any given point we must interact with it. And herefore the interacting with the electron is causing the wave/possibility function of the electron to collapse and it becomes a singular particle. NOT us mere mortals "thinking" about it collapsing and it doing so. Or the electron "knowing" it's being watched. But the interacting with other quanti to measure it's location aka... observing it.

Now when anyone thinks about the word "observe" they would get the impression of NOT INTERACTING WITH IT BUT MERELY WATCHING IT. However we cannot do that with electrons or quanti. We MUST interact. Ie. MEasure it.

A human being is a part of a whole, called by us 'universe', a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. - Albert Einstein

The void is no mere emptiness, but is real, free and existing. It is the source from which all things arise and return. It cannot be seen, touched or known, yet it exists and is freely used. It has no shape, size, color or form, and yet all that we see, hear, feel and touch is "it". It is beyond intellectual knowing and cannot be grasped by the ordinary mind. When we suddenly awake to the realization that there is no barrier, and has never been seen, one realizes that one is all things, mountains, rivers, grasses, trees, sun, moon, stars, universe are all oneself. There is no longer a division or barrier between myself and others, no longer any feeling of alienation or fear. Realizing this, results in true compassion. Other people and things are not seen as apart from oneself, on the contrary, as one's own body - Bruce Lee

Perhaps the 2000-4000 people were composed of every day criminals....having them all do something else would indeed lower the crime rate a good amount.

But besides all that, you are basically describing the holographic universe theory....as by removing chunks of the big picture, you still get the same picture on the smallest shard.
