.................
Well, they dont really know in Cuba whats really happening here- chances are they do and dont beleive it. Maybe they think its Castro propaganda and continue coming although, i havent heard of any Cubans rowing themselves silly lately to "touch" land here- maybe i'm wrong.
Oh you are wrong. I have posted news on the breaking news section on Cubans reaching U.S. shores and showing the rowboats many of them have to use. Two cousins of mine came from Cuba some months back.
My grandmother still comes to visit once every 2-3 years when we can get enough money to send for her. Yes, the Cuban government allow really old people to leave, they have to ask for permission, because the Cuban government knows most if not all of those old Cubans will return because they still have family in Cuba. My grandmother has always told us she will not leave Cuban until everyone from our family is out of Cuba. When she comes she is thin and frail, when she leaves she is in much better health and leaves with clothese and some necessities for our family in Cuba.

I may not have been there to see a lot but i sure had family left behind who suffered enormously and i know all about it.
I don't mean to be condescending, but I really don't think you do. Some of the statements you have made in the past make me believe you don't know of much which has been happening in Cuba. Castro blames everything that happens in Cuba on the U.S., and in these forums you can see many people, most of them from the left, doing the same, blaming the U.S. and "Capitalism" for all the wrongs in the world and calling for "changing from Capitalism and supplanting the system"...

Oh, and by the standards of those times, i was born to a priviledged family who had everything- but remember, the lord giveth and Castro tooketh away everything we had.
I dont get your point.
My point is that you can't see the similarities between much of what the left and even democrats and some others keep asking for, and the promises and programs implemented by castro after the revolution.

I'm always with you as far as Castro's atrocities, this subject i am speaking of has to do with 90% of Cubans HERE who think Bush is the hottest thing since apple pie.
THAT my friend, is being nearsighted, at the very least!!!
Not really, they just know that Democrats and some other groups are leaning way too close to what they left behind, and what so many Cubans and others had to pay their lives with trying to leave.
Kerry and any other Democrat would have just taken us a step closer to a real dictatorship. Are you forgetting the "100 day plan" which Kerry had in store if he would have been president? I excerpted it directly from a couple of Kerry's website as well as other news media who covered this.
www.abovetopsecret.com...
Kerry wanted to install a system similar to that in Cuba...where citizens starting from the very young to the very old would be paying for their education with a "national service plan" in which everyone including kids would be working for the government.
Of course after Kerry's 100 day plan was linked to the Communist/socialist programs of dictatorships like that of Cuba or the old U.S.S.R. all of the links to Kerry's website and some other Democrat websties which outlined this plan were removed...
Clinton wanted to, and stills wants alongside with his wife to take all weapons from American civilians, and Clinton has been caught as claiming "only the military and the police should have weapons".
The Clintons have also recieved campaign contributions from Communist chinese who work for the Chinese government, and let's not forget the scandals mostly during the Clinton administration when classified informaiton was being stolen like there was no tomorrow by the Chinese.
You were talking about JFK before, saying he was a good Democrat. In a way yes he was a lot better than most other Democrat presidents, but he did go back on his promise of helping Cubans fight against castro's regime.
You also forget that was a time when it was patriotic to want to help other countries which are/were opressed by dictatorships.... now it is publicized by many of the press as "trying to expand an imperialistic empire" or some other BS.
I guess you have to leave Calle 8 to develop some sense of loss of freedom, and beleive the boogeyman is at every corner.
Open your eyes, Muaddib. Not everything in this country is rose colored. I love this country and dont want to see it go to hell, but you love this country and dont see ANYTHING WRONG untill......I dont know what its going to take for you to wake up and smell the tyranny.

You associate Democrats with COMMUNISM and that is totally wrong. We've had many Democratic presidents and we've never had Communism here, not since i've been around.
So why the blind spot?Habla!

It is not wrong. Trying to take weapons from all American citizens except the military and police...wanting to install a "socialist system similar to that of Cuba where even children would have to work for the government to pay for their education"...
People from the left claiming, like Democrat Senator Barbara Boxer, that Communism even in Cuba was dead, and even what you have seen in these forums some people claiming "we can learn from the Communist system of Cuba about the healthcare system, and some other programs" should tell you differently.
The fact that the left is sprouting the same propaganda which Communist dictatorships have been srpouting for ages about "We have to supplant Capitalism and stop the Imperialistic regime of the U.S.", and the fact that you get many from the left even in this site also siding in such propaganda and wanting to blame every problem in the world on the U.S. should be telling you differently....
How many people in here have even cheered for Chavez even after i ahve been saying since 2004 he is a Communist, many of you claiming he isn't until in his 2007 speech he finally said he is a Communist?... and still you get many members in these forums claim the U.S. is a dictatorship and that Chavez is fighting for his people....
Not to mention the fact that most of the left claim the U.S. is controlling the world, or trying to and is trying to expand its "empire" yet when it is shown that people like Cahvez and others the left keep cheering up for want a "Global revolution similar to that of Cuba and Venezuela"....
I am pretty sure i am leaving some things out..
