PC World's "Strangest Sights" on Google Earth

Topic started on 27-7-2007 @ 04:34 PM by horrorbiz

Not sure how old this is, but PC World assembled their 16 "Strangest" Sights found on Google Earth.

They should have came to us for some samples

Anyway, for what it's worth, there are some fun shots, some cool nature shots, and some weird photos. The strangest, in my opinion, is the final photo in the slide, with what appears to be a fighter jet sitting behind a building in a parking lot - next to a parked car.

In the caption for the aforementioned photo, there's also a link for a lake in Iraq that's blood red. They also give coordinates for you to see some of these, yourself.

Not sure if any of these photos were seen before, but it's a fun look.

Looks like an Apple iPod advertisement.

They've got a few things wrong in the article though, the shots beyond a certain degree of magnification are not from satellites, they're aerial. Most of the photos in the article are from aerial photography.

edit: I don't know if I saved a link to it, but there's a Google Earth shot where some really bored people carved their unit crest into a grass field in South America.

Which is sort of funny but not politically correct. I have to wonder how they explained that one.

If you actually look at the google maps of some of these there just single pictures places into the blurry background of what they don't have. for example maps.google.com...,19.428613&spn=0.007182,0.021243&z=16&om=1
