Israeli forces have made preparations to invade the Gaza Strip to stop a guerrilla build-up by Hamas and may only have a limited opportunity to launch such an attack, a top army commander said yesterday.

"Israel has well drawn-up plans, the troops have been trained and await the go-ahead. If we opt to launch an operation, we'll know what to do," the Israeli commander was quoted as telling Israeli journalists at a briefing.

"There will also be a price to pay. The Israel Defence Forces are prepared to pay that price."

Yes it is preemptive warfare. Although the out right aggression has been going on for a while. All the bombs and rockets.
This action should not be that big a surprise to any one.
Here is a little bit of what the Hamas Charter says.

Those organizations operate [in a situation] where Islam is absent from the arena and alienated from its people. Thus, the Muslims must fulfill their duty in confronting the schemes of those saboteurs. When Islam will retake possession of [the means to] guide the life [of the Muslims], it will wipe out those organizations which are the enemy of humanity and Islam.

I think the zionists have read hamas's charter more then an average Palestinian ever has and besides the majority of that quoite is true. The zionists are out to crush them they arent lieing about it and if they are out to crush them and steal their land then should their charter say "We should lay down and accept what the zionists would like to do to us"?

The Israelis have been killing, maiming, bombing, shelling, shooting missiles at, arresting, torturing, kidnapping and assasinating the palestinians for decades...just because they dont have a written charter doesn't mean it doesn't exist. However you would like to sugar coat Israeli bullcrap going on in the Middle east just know that when something happens to the people of Israel when this thing blows up that you have no one else to blame but yourself for supporting it and making excuses for it.

The settlers continue to expand the settlements even to this day. They deserve whatever gets thrown at them since everyone else seems reluctant to enforce the law the owners of the land are enforcing it themselves.

Actually I am not trying to sugar coat anything. Just trying to get the point across that there have been periods of peace in the west bank in recent years, where there was employment and some prosperity for the palestinians. Those periods have ended with some group blowing up some bomb in Israel.
So that goes back to if Israel goes into the west bank again, I don't think any learned individual any where will see it as a surprise.
