Stories can be true or they can be false, which one do you suggest?

I think you're missing my point ...

A Story about Stories.

... with the MANY compilations having been, shall we say ... selectively edited, over the course of time.

One-Size Fits All ... would seem the best seller, at the moment.

Maybe there were some minor changes here and there, but nothing earthshattering. I mean I keep hearing this charge thrown around on bulletin boards, I keep asking for proof of major editing, I keep not getting it.

But there may well be a first time for it...

define earth shattering?
how do you know?
i have been under the impression that there is a wealth of books not in the bible or that have never even been transcribed.
i guess not translating and putting something in is not technically an edit but you guys might be working with 1/4 of a book here man.

Enh, NRSV is pretty good. Though you will find that there is not much actual difference between translations. There are many different translations of the exploits of Julius Caesar and you don't see him getting attacked on these boards.

people don't worship and kill and bend over for ceaser.
it's a might different.

so the proof given about the different bible versions is not good enough?

I mean, what real-world impact does the difference have? That is your burden of proof.

I take it that many of you (including the OP - no offense) have never been to a mountain before. It isn't like a group of people can just waltz up it and go there's the ark. It isn't a big hill, it is a mountain. People die on mountains very easily. Mountains are also snow capped. There are hundreds of feet of snow and ice that move like glaciers (sometimes they are glaciers) over the surface of the sloped mountain rock. The snow can turn very slowly and any object could be logged deep in mountain ice and snow for hundreds if not thousands of years before returning to the surface only for a very short period of time before being reburied by falling snows.

Here is some information on Mount Ararat.

Who's being attacked? ... and why are we discussing Julius Caeser? Odd, that?

Questioned ... Yes, but Attacked? ... c'mon.

you will find that there is not much actual difference between translations

Translations are one thing, but Edits and or ReWrites are an entirely different ballgame.

Again, which version do you subscribe to?

the flavors abound, as do the various sects and stories which comprise the sum total ... the BIBLE ...

A Story of Stories ... believe what you will, IMO

When are you going to get me this evidence of editation or outright rewrite?

that just don't hold water for me and it is just my opinion.
people worship this book and it's teachings and they give money to it's facilities and they kill for it......all this an it is an incomplete book cause there are gospels that are not in it.
how can you deny that?

as to how huge ararat is and the snow and ice, yeah, i know.
i read on wiki one guy pledged 900 million of his own scratch.
i think 1 day of collection plates tally's a week for a week or two the world over would fund this.
i mean, isn't it worth it? finding noahs ark?
the heaviest piece of evidence to date(assuming it is there) and they leave it there. i do not get it.
space is vast. we've been there.
the oceans are rough and we conquor them.

this can be done.
would life be lost? almost certainly...they kill for it, why not die for it?

eh

i am not attacking anyone here. i am speaking in general terms.
when i say why don't 'they' go i mean whoever is wualified to fly up there or hike up there or do what needs to be done.
when i say why don't 'they' find it, i include myself. as a hardcore atheist, i'll kick in a 20 spot to see what turns up. can't be bad for me....either way, i learn something huge i didn't kno before.

i am just brach and cynical. i am a**hole ish i know and i apologize. i don't interact with others much...just used to telling it like it is.

i apologise now if i offended anyone.

i will rather along side your right to worship that book. all day every day. i still think it is drivel though. that is my right.
fair is fair

let me first say that i am a hardcore atheist and don't believe in the bible or the word at all. not one single iota. that said, i have a thirst for knowledge. i would very much like to KNOW the score here know what i mean.

Considering your predisposition on the subject how do you really expect to learn anything. You have to be neutral, if you wish to satisfy your quest for knowledge, maintain an objective point of view.
This will help you to learn.

Back to the topic, the bible's is made up of 66 books, most of which have a different authur. The question is where is the origin of thier report?
where the authurs present at the events that were reported?
where there witnesses at the events?
From what perspective are there reports based?
Can the reports be verified with historical and archeological findings.

When you check book by book, you will find that some the books are more accurate than others, do a lot of research before concluding on any issue.
