"Tuesday, there wasn't even a fuss. Wednesday, the world was a little different. By executive order, the Secretary of the Treasury may now seize the property of any person who undermines efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq. The Secretary may make his determination in secret and after the fact."

I've come to hate this administration. All this does is make a criminal out of anyone who tries to be a whistleblower when Halliburton, Blackwater and the like are raking in huge sums of money.

I don't understand how this is related to the Fifth Amendment, though, which is about not having to testify against yourself. Can someone explain to me? I'd appreciate it.
THanks, OP, for the important post.

What do you expect? This is just part of the Neocon takeover of the federal government, but more importantly, the shadow government. It was a naked grab for corporate domination of the policies of the USA and to subjugate the citizens into a subdued and compliant population.

It was all planned and executed very well, as we saw on 9-11, but not perfectly, hence the hundreds of ' anomalies '. These are the Generals and Admirals and Intelligence chiefs who believe as the insane Bu#es do.

America is gone as we knew it, even in the 1950's, and we will see more and more fascistic laws and abuses before it comes down to a fight. But there WILL be a fight, have no doubt.

Isn't this the 5th?

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

I'd like to know also
how is it overturned?

Both Congress & the Judicial must slap it down. In Constitutional writ, there is no Legislation, no Executive Order, no Judicial ruling that can be allowed to trump the Constitution or the Bill of Rights!

Even though the Executive Branch has been getting away with it for decades before Bush (The Federal Reserve Act stands out promenently as an example), it must stop. The Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land, trumped only by the Laws of Nature as the Creator set forth. Whenever the Oath-bound Government seeks to "overturn" any part of the Constitution or the Bill of Rights, they must be confronted with charges of High Crimes & removed from Office...The Constitution itself allows no exceptions, only an apathetic Public does.
