Nelson Mandela- false memory?

I've heard that a good number of people are very confused about Nelson Mandela. They seem to rememebr quite clearly that he died, and did NOT spend 27 years in prison. What do you think happened here?

Mass Hypnosis?

Time Travel?

I know that. The issue was, there are apparently many people who have a very clear memory of him being executed. I think it's just interesting how something like that could occur.

I believe that was the first story given out. Then they found out he was alive, and switched stories. Some people may have just missed the switch in stories...
