In Meeting With Atheists, Rep. Ellison Compares President Bush to Hitler

www.foxnews.com

Democratic Rep. Keith Ellison, the first Muslim elected to Congress, is defending himself Monday after comparing President Bush to Adolf Hitler and leaving the impression the administration may have rigged the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

Speaking to an atheist group on July 8, Ellison said that the president acted much the way Hitler did when the Reichstag, or German Parliament building, was burned in 1933 ahead of elections that pitted Hitler's Nazi Party against others, including the Communists.

Pandering leads to backtracking... It's interesting to see that Rep. Keith Ellison is sure that Osama bin Laden was responsible for the 9/11 attacks. I wonder kind of remarks he makes to his core constituency if he would violate Godwin's Law with a group of atheist?

There are some differences though, I mean Hitler was loved by a good percentage of the German population and you could argue that he helped the average guy if only for awhile. Bush can claim neither at the moment really.

Well he is just voicing the same sentiments of many American voters in our nation now as the use of presidential powers are becoming more widely use by Bush.

Many people see this as the behavior of an autocrat.

Nothing new, just that a Rep. that also happen to be muslin is doing it makes juicy news.

Also like already denythestatusquo said at least Hitler was well liked.

BTW atheist are people also and specially voters just like any other citizen.

Its good to see that we have some smart people in Congress, and others have said the same thing, is just that this one happens to be Muslim.

The resemblances between Hitler and Bush are uncanny and outside of the fact that Hitler was liked more by his people, they are the same with the same agenda.

Dont forget that in the 1930's people were not as sophisticated as they are today. If Hitler were pulling this stuff today, he'd have practically no support because people KNOW BETTER. They would see right thru him as we do Bush nowadays.

Bush and Cheney have the same "tactics"- terrorism or possible terrorism everyday, bla bla bla bla bla...

Its getting old and tired.
