LAWYERS for more than 500 people who say they were victims of sexual abuse by members of the Catholic clergy say they have settled their lawsuits against the Archdiocese of Los Angeles for $US660 million ($760 million).

If approved, it will be the largest payout made by any single diocese since sexual abuse scandals in the clergy first became public in Boston in 2002.
