More at Source: Time for Congress to Pick a Plan to End Iraq Occupation

DEMOCRATS ARE PEELING OFF some Republican warmongers in an effort to end the occupation of Iraq through amendments to the bulky must-pass defense appropriations measure. Whether they succeed is in doubt.
-------------------------
A similar measure passed Congress last year in a bill Bush vetoed. Sens. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) and Robert Byrd (DW. Va.) would revoke Congress’s 2002 war authorization and force Bush to come back to Congress to justify further combat operations. By “de-authorizing” the war, the amendment would allow continuation of only those missions explicitly authorized by Congress.

The article also mentions four major war-limiting proposals pending...See the article for more details.

Congress is running out of time to make Bush pull out...The longer we're over there, the more damage is done to our boys in uniform, but our economy, our reputation internationally & the credibility of the US Government here at home.

But with the elections coming up next year, a good chunk of Congress (that's been turning away from Bush recently) still stalls for time in order to take advantage. Bush has already threatened to veto any Bill that requires him to pull out, so Congress really should act as quickly as possible. I think the idea of Congress revoking their war-authorization would be the quickest way to make Bush start answering some hard questions & stop escalating the Middle East situation.

The majority of congress will be pro pull out, taking into consideration that they are for re election.

They want to keep their seats specially the Republican minority that already knows the wrath of the American voters.

Bush doesn't care because he has nothing to lose.

But how honest is congress about this bill? that is what we need to know, because so far congress has not stop bush on anything.

It's panic time for Democrats. They actually think they have a chance at the Presidency in 2008.

Their worst nightmare is that they are elected in 2008 and we are still in Iraq trying to achieve victory. Bush is no longer around, and now it is up to them to remove us from Iraq. Deep down Democrats know that if this happens, they will be blamed for the calamity that will soon follow our desertion. Are they going to be ready to take the blame? Millions will be slaughtered and Al-Queda will be claiming victory

Don't look for Democrats to remove us from Iraq. They know they won't be able to blame Bush, it will be squarely on them. It's not going to happen.

More at Source: US Republicans face all-night Iraq vigil

Anti-war Democrats vowed Monday to force Republicans to stage an all-night Senate vigil to defend President George W. Bush on Iraq.
Democratic majority leader Harry Reid turned up the heat on Republicans after they blocked a simple majority vote on a bill that would force Bush to get most combat troops out of Iraq by early next year.
"Blocking an up-or-down vote ... shows Republicans are more interested in protecting the president than our troops," Reid said.
----------------
"We believe that urgency and passion will be shown by an all-night session," said another top Democratic senator Chuck Schumer.
The Democrat's key anti-war bill requires a withdrawal of combat troops to start from Iraq within 120 days, to be completed by April 30 next year.
----------------
Hadley said wavering Republicans should wait for a mid-September report by General David Petraeus, the US commander in Iraq, before expecting plans for a change of mission for 160,000 US troops in Iraq.
But Warner, an armed services expert, signaled that patience in Congress with Bush was wearing thin.

I hope Bush is beginning to see that his fast push for Power is backfiring on him...He's brewed up trouble in the Judicial, trouble in the Legislative, trouble in the States & even brewed up trouble with foreign relations.

Personally, I'd like to see his entire Administration & his political supporters in the other Branches see some heavy time in prison.
