Traditionally weapons are meant to be quick, efficient methods of killing or maiming.
Depends on the results you want to achieve. Let say a nuclear bomb is a a quick and effective weapon if you want to get get rid of a mass of people in
the shortest amount of time. But if you want to control the masses, not destroy them, there are many weapons to use. By the fear it generates,
HIV/AIDS is a good candidate. It can restore control over populations where religion and belief fail. Fear of aids contains its own percentage of
beliefs too...
Beside that you also may consider the existence of different kinds of wars : poiltical, religious, economic, etc.
Regarding the latter, no doubts there are winners : pharmaceuticals giants, latex industries, etc.
The question is, was hiv/aids
designed as a weapon ?
Not sure the virus itself was, but the
aids phenomoenon is, without any doubt. There are very strange things in its history, e.g. what
razorbackhater said about Dr. Gallo's fantasies....
Did you ever wondered why AZT is recognized as the treatment for AIDS despite the fact it is a cytotoxic agent ?
