I think Newcastle will come good, but it's gunna be a rebuilding season for them. Big Sam is gunna change a lot of things, mostly with infastructure and he has a hardcore gadget fetish so they'll be having those strechy things by the bench.

That'll be Owen and his dodgy hamsters - I mean hamstrings - out for another season...

Wait and see, wait and see.

I think Spurs will be pushing hard for a top 4 place this year.

I hate Spurs!!

Actually I only hate 3 teams

Manchester United
Chelsea
Sunderland they should win the Coca Cola League again next year and they are worth 6 points lol

Well atleast if Owen goes down again this year we still have the Viduka Martins pairing.

Hopefully we will sign a couple more defenders

Looks like Owen is broken already

Newcastle alarm bells as Owen picks up thigh strain in training

Three weeks before the start of the season Michael Owen is once again injured, the 27 year-old Newcastle United striker having aggravated a slight thigh strain during shooting practice yesterday

Oohh a football thread, great!

I'm supporting Newcastle next season only because of Sam plus my dad is from Newcastle. He's in charge now and I really really think the man has a tactical knowledge of the game. Why they chose McClaren over him for England I have no idea, but he should do a good job when given time at Newcastle. I loved him at Bolton so I'm following his progress at Newcastle.

Instantly you can see what he's aiming for. A solid defence. He's brought in well. Geremi and the Czech lad from St Germain will do decent. Obviously finances are an issue and I hope they keep Owen. Owen/Martins alongside Viduka could be immense. It reminds me of the Sunderland partnership a long time ago with Quinn and Phillips. One tall, hold up man (although Viduka has much more skill) and a quicker, more direct player alongside.

Bolton were very hard to break down and a thorn in the side of most teams who went to the Reebok stadium, so I'm sure you can expect the same mentality being used at Newcastle. Maybe not so good for attacking football like Manchester United, but I'm sure at the moment most die hard Newcastle fans just want consistency and some good runs of results. You had it under Robson, but then lost it again with a series of 'so-so' managers.

I like Newcastle and the fan base. I lived there for a while with my parents years ago in Gateshead. The fans deserve something special up there and I wish them well for next season.

Newcastle United's injury jinx has struck once again after Joey Barton was ruled out for the start of the new Barclays Premier League season.

Freddy Shepard replaced as chairman with immediate effect.

Good Riddance

Great news for the long suffering Newcastle fans

SHEPHERD REPLACED AS MAGPIES CHAIRMAN

Shepherd has been replaced by Chris Mort following the takeover of the club earlier this summer by St James' Holdings Limited, the bid vehicle of billionaire businessman Mike Ashley.

MARTINS STAYING WITH MAGPIES

Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins has moved to end speculation over his future at St James' Park.

Great news for Newcastle Martins is young raw talent with great speed and strength. Was one of the few bright spots last year.

10 games a year and often injured Dyer, he cant leave fast enough for me
we have younger healthier and more dedicated players that can take his place if he ever had a place.

Oh well, not so bad then!

What you save on his medical bills can go and help out with Owen's!!

and did I mention "I hate Spurs!"

Hey the Spurs are a "BIG CLUB" surely they will be in the top 4 this season.

Shouldnt you hate Everton?

Well the Dyer move to West Ham seems to have hit a dead end.

Curbishley: Dyer deal off

Owen is still injured and doubtful for the season opener at Bolton.

Owen doubtful for opening game

Newcastle did manage to sign Alan Smith

Smith happy to be versatile

Newcastle also seems to be in for Jose Enrique from Villarreal

Sam to make more signings

I havent been this optimistic in several years.

Good start for Smith!

A good bet for a Uefa cup spot at the end of this season I'm starting to think.

Still not a patch on my boys though. Bit of an unfriendly friendly with FyrNyyoorrrddd (That's how the Dutch say it
)

The Big "G" is looking in fine form. Suh Weet!

I dunno about that... I think Bolton still have enough to take you. It's going to take a while for all the noobs at Newcastle to click, but they will and Big Sam will have them racing up the table in no time.

Well I am pleased so far not bad for a team missing 4 of thier top players in the game Owen, Given, Barton, and Duff, heck I would have settled for 1 point. Things are definitely looking better than the last 4 years.

There is a pic floating around of one of Martins goals, was a bicycle kick Pele style, class goal. Hopefully there will be more.
