RFID chips do not have a 1km range.

Ignore Bond for a second, I was only trying to make a point. The movie was irrelevant anyway.

This is from another thread on ATS regarding the 'American microchip' that I wrote:

Read a bit first before assuming having a metal chip inside you is a good thing. I don't want you coming back at me and asking more questions before reading. It does a body good .

A few brief points I'd like to make.

1). Regardless of the distance, I don't care if its 1mm, no one has any right to know your preferences. That is for you to mention. No preloaded piece of metal/plastic should do my speaking for me.

2). Businesses have better access to your financial information and purchase history so product marketing will be geared towards certain people. If you have the chip, they already know what you've bought in the past.

3). With a completely microchipped society, it will not be hard to manipulate anyone for FURTHER reduction of civil liberties. A mandatory anything is against our Constitution. I don't care if it is 'voluntary' you won't be able to buy things if the economy is built around chips.

The microchip is in the tv show 'Futurama' which gives each potential employee a predetermined job. Do I want a machine deciding what I am best at? No thank you. It is also mentioned in the movie 'Idiocracy.' Same deal. You get placed wherever the system thinks you are best at.

By gaining control over our body's receptor-ligand network, our emotional state can be manipulated by electrical signals, either as a part of a chip's program or via remote signaling, thus offering the possibility of the creation of a perfect consumer workforce - a people whose only thoughts are those of working, eating, procreating and sleeping.

You think you're safer with a chip? Think again.

Chris McDermott, of the anti-RFID group No Tags, says chip implants would be of little use in tracking a missing child as readers only have a limited range.

"What parents like the Duvals want is an implant which can be traced by satellite - but that's a long way off. Let's face it, all such a chip would do in cases like Soham is allow the police to trace the bodies more quickly. No technology would have saved those girls."

Welcome to digital slavery of the 21st century.

You all can sign up for chips, I could care less. But I will die before I am plugged into a man-made grid system.

What happened to denying ignorance? Let's face it octavius you simply have no idea what you're getting yourself into.
