160 X 320 pixels and a maximum file size not to exceed 75kb.

You can either upload it to your Member Upload Space or host it yourself on a site such a imageshack. Once it's been uploaded somewhere, simply go to your MemCenter under the Account Settings section and type the URL into the Avatar URL field.

Hope this helps, otherwise post back and we'll get you squared away.

Yes. Animated avatars are allowed as long as they fall within the same size and file constraints.

[edit: to add]

(physical size can extend up to 400 pixels tall for images under 50k in file size)

The angry pc user image?

Well .. it does fit within the size guidelines, but I think we've removed it in the past, under the blood and gore clause. It's cartoonish ... yes, but probably wouldn't stay up for long. ... just saying.

Is there a certain "style" or "image" you're looking to portray? I'd be happy to work something up for you.

Air Force Secret Facility - Don't Look Inside.

It got a bit distorted during the resize.

Still a near perfect fit for your username. (?)

Not really meaning to step on any toes, but...

The filesize on that image is considerably more than 50kb (71.1 KB) ... (The image height is 400 pixels)

Just sayin'

Is there anyway to make a avatar out of video from a website?

posted on Jul, 12 2007 @ 09:15 PM
Well there is, however...

Getting decent quality AND keeping within the filesize limits is nearly impossible in many instances. And sometime the effort is an exercise in futility in attempting to both meet the filesize requirements, as well as having good quality.

This is the primary reason why I have largely stopped offering to make animated .GIF avatars. Just to difficult *at best* to attempt the near-impossible.

ok bro thanks for the help..i'll just keep it simple i guess..

Now when i paste the code or whatever in the upload section should it at least do something?everytime i try nothing happens at all,it doesnt say it couldnt work or anything...

herees one i think would fit and work if not im getting a normal dam pic

scroll down a little to see it,should that fit?

posted on Jul, 12 2007 @ 09:27 PM
It should work, that image is 150x150.

Make sure you copy the full url (listed there as "Avatar Image Code")

Then go to "Account Setting" here in the "Member Center"

And then make sure the box "Avatar Url" is empty before you paste the new url for that image. If there is anything there, highlight it and "Delete" it. Then you can paste the new url.

Then click on "Submit" on the bottom of the "Settings" page.

If all is well, you should see a preview of the avatar on the following page after you clicked "Submit".
