WASHINGTON — U.S. intelligence analysts have concluded Al Qaeda has rebuilt its operating capability to a level not seen since just before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, The Associated Press has learned.

The conclusion suggests that the group that launched the most devastating terror attack on the United States has been able to rebuild despite nearly six years of bombings, war and other tactics aimed at crippling it.

This could just be a huge fear mongering campain by the goverment.

I feel all these warning are just getting us prepaired so when it happens they can say we warned you,we told you..

Well then why did'nt you stop them...Crazy times in the upcoming months,be ready poeple.

And if for some reason bush acts upon his dictatorship bill,we must immediatly have an uprise,we can't just come here and whine..That will be the time when protesting should be at the top of the list,besides survival..

I wanna clear something up, people are trying to be
prophetic by saying there will be a bombing this summer.
That part is inevitable, but it could be a fear campaign.

I feel sorry for the US citizens because they are the ones

something else i just though of is this artical says Pakistan signed a treaty with Al-Qeada and the Taleban saying they could open up bases in northern Pakistan along the border with Afganastan,and America nor Pakistani army has the right to engage them..

Well whatever happend to all the Bush speaches saying if you harbor terrorist you will be considered a terrorist and face the same consequences
as the terrorist..

I say we arent touching Pakistan because they can touch us back,they have a nuclear program and have had it for a while..

Not to mention A.Q Kahn one of their nuke experts that sold nuclear information to Iran and other places,who knows..

AQ.Khan is only on house arrest for his crimes..This is just such bs

Isn't it grand that the Bush administration has managed to; after thier vaunted "war on terror" to allow this group to regroup and be at the same strenght as they were before 9/11. Patheic, and impeachable, the president has not, by HIS OWN standards made the homeland safer.
We really need to rid ourselves of this menace before he ushers in our (the US's) complete destruction.

Are there any other sources besides fox news that says this? A quick search just shows Chertoff in Chicago telling about his "gut feeling". Definately a prelude to attack in Chicago. If something happens there, with all this hype leading up to it, it is just gonna fuel more conspiracy fodder. All you in Chicago keep a watch for detonation specialists.

Really? Where? I'd like to see this "treaty". More specifically, since a treaty requires people from both parties to sign it, I'd be interested in seeing who signed it for al Qaeda.

"Al-Qaeda" was the name given to a nameless and loosely affiliated (i.e. like-minded) group of Islamists by the FBI. Those suspected of belonging to an organisation can be tried under existing anti-mafia legislation for belonging to a group.

Osama Bin Laden never used the phrase "Al-Qaeda" until after the 9/11 bombings. The name was that given to a CIA database of suspected and known Islamic terrorists.

My point being that there was no cohesive structure to either destroy or rebuild up to the "same strength" as pre-9/11. Therefore this is a complete fabrication designed to try and blow some wind into the terrorist boogey-man inflatable doll.

How can a group that had no central command structure, membership procedure, central funding or infrastructure rebuild?

If one day I said I am allied to every one around the World who uses a knife and fork, then have some one come in and try to smash my alliance, then have them say they had reduced our strength, then we rebuilt it, you could see how ludicrous the claim of reduction and rebuilding would be. The same applies to al-Qaeda. It never existed as an entity in the first place.

Why the sudden shift? Could be that this President is scraping bottom of his approval rating and his fellow Repubs are turning on him. We need another big-time distraction from his failed presidency OR another attack to be put in line. Something may very well be in the works OR just another sleigh-of-hand. The "tingle in my tummy" tells me something's up. Be vigilant either way.

That may be a fact but it's not the point. The point is that these terrorists have no organisation with which to rebuild in the first place. Al-Qaeda never existed until the FBI gave a name to a fictional umbrella organisation. They named it so that they could charge conspirators under existing anti-mafia legislation. Legislation that requires an organisation to be named and for members to seek membership from a designated leadership.

Yes terrorists exist and so do rapists, but there is no Al-Pervert umbrella organisation that they all carry membership cards for. Al-Qaeda never existed as a bonafide entity until the United States gave it a name. The only connection these people have are that they are Islamic extremists. It has even been admitted by the US government that Osama Bin Laden did not give orders for events such as the Madrid Bombings or the London Bombings even though Al-Qaeda supposedly carried them out. Al-Qaeda is a banner used by less imaginative terrorists post-9/11 to increase their stature.

How can something "regroup" if they weren't a group to begin with? Al-Qaeda is a fiction. Terrorists are real but Al-Qaeda as an entity that controls terrorist cells never existed.
