I cant believe Brits turned down this little gadget after the funded it with approx 96000 us.dollars. I have seen several hundred models of uav (while investigating the caret craft), sikorny,arods,honeywell..just too many to list
Principle is solid, and altitude no barrier. Imagine how many crows you can scare with one of these on auto, or escort your kids when they get off the bus.
I remember when Howard Hughes went to sell one of his plans for a small fighter to U.S before WWII and he was rejected. That plane was scooped up by Japan and became the famous Zero.

I just had a dreadful vision/idea/prophecy

They talk about it being able to bump off walls and such, and that America is very intredted in this. I see things like these, roaming the Major cities, 10-15 meters up, Messages on scrolling marquees on them, screaming goverment messages out of them.

I can see them now, stalking the streets from above...

Nah, more like peeking in your windows and listening to your conversations.

The gubmint has had all sorts of really fun hover drone projects, the last one I saw was in Huntsville in 2002. But it was a bit loud and didn't have as much flight time as I bet you could get out of a Coanda effect machine like this.

It might be fun to build some just for lab testing.

They can listen into a room by use of windows. All you need is the right circuitry and a laser/reciever. Amazing1 sells this labelled the window bounce project. Basically its a laser bouncing off a window that carries the vibration from someones voice. Its picks up that vibration (voice/sound) and sends it back to a sensor which feeds it into the circuitry. Now take a infrared laser and you have a invisible limitless device which can listen in through windows with a transfer rate @ 186,282 mps.

I like this design, but the only resemblence to a flying saucer is its shape. Its basically a helicopter. Why would the military use these when they have the real deal...

That's actually a lot harder than it looks. Also "amazing devices" mostly sells junk.

And it doesn't give you a peek inside.

However, you can read someone's CRT if they've got a light colored surface behind them (not vonEck, either) and the Brits swear they can image your face by measuring the light reflection changes as the CRT dot scans, but I haven't seen that one personally.

Still, nothing beats just looking inside. Or following you around on the street, if the thing's quiet enough.

Nice suggested uses by every one. The reason U.S. army snatched it up was because of its stability at very high altitudes, as well as recovery from bumbing into stuff like in urban settings. or post catstrophe scene, The smaller and higher..the harder it is to shoot down, and the more that can be produced cheaply..imagine a swarm of these, scouring areas for mines..(and people), going into a cave using infrared, (and getting bin laden). well anyway you are right..the possibilities are fascinating.
