No wonder the US as such a bad name, a great country going down the pan because the Generals and those above know nothing about warfare, just how to intimidate civilians. How many more innocent US soldiers, Candian and UK soldiers must die before they realise?

You can call me anti-US if you like...I am not, though I aint a fan either, but if you look without prejudice you will see the reason this war on terrorism (cough cough) aint gonna end anytime soon!

Ok, I'll play devil's advocate. What if their fellow troops were pinned down somewhere and needed backup? They have no sirens on these trucks, so it would be hard to race through traffic. IMO I can't make a judgement on this behavior until I know the context and circumstances of the situation.

If I see a video of a soldier gunning down what looks to be an innocent civillian thats horrible. But, if they rewind the tape a little more and show me that person firing a weapon at our troops first, then the action is justified.

Like I said, if they are doing this for no good reason, then this behavior is unacceptable.

Thats a very valid point, and one I over-looked. Just seems to me, every week a video is released of troops whooping it up and high-fiving the humiliation of civilians, the very civilians they are there to set free!

Get real. You're saying you'd "take out a few" too over this? You look at a stupid video clip like that and declare that someone should die over this? You think THIS warrants terrorism. That is absolutely ridiculous.

I think there are some valid points above, but I still think that this sort of behaviour is uncalled for.

Just imagine that you were driving your mother to the shops and someone barged you out of the way in this manner -- you'd be upset. Honestly, if this happened to you, you wouldn't be so blasé about it.

And for arguments sake, lets say that they were in a hurry to aid their colleagues, as stated above, they do have a horn that they could use, people would move. I think given the fact that the video has obviously been recorded for amusement value means that this is just some soliders having a bit of fun abusing their power.

Also, I find a lot of the armchair commanders on these forums incredibly arrogant to say the least. To quote Queen Victoria: "I am not amused."

I don't think what they're doing is ok, it's not, but it's certainly not something that warrants the OP's comments about "taking a few out".

Stay in any one place for too long, and you're dead. How are they to know that someone in a crowded area isn't setting up an IED or looking for a humvee to destroy? How do they know they aren't driving into a trap of some kind? Driving through an area as quickly as possible is one of the best ways to avoid getting killed, and second only to not being there in the first place.

Just an FYI: The generals aren't telling soldiers to kill or hurt civilians. They're the ones telling the president we need to pull out, if only a set number over a period of time.

The trouble is if you where driving there I have a feeling a lot of us might feel a lot safer with an open road in front of us rather than being boxed in with local cars.I dont agree with this war or afganistan but you have to think like those poor soldiers who are driving in an extreme place!

It looks realy bad,and it is-but wouldnt you be very edgey driving out there not knowing where the next attack will come from?

I have to agree, the soundtrack makes the video appear worse that what it really is. As stated before, having a humvee parked up nicely in traffic may draw attention, a boxed in vehicle could easily be overrun by a crowd or a sitting duck to armed insurgents.

I have no problem with the ideo in question- infact id say it was a good piece of driving IMO.

there are always soldiers who go overboard. That's the price of war, maipulation and propaganda.

I don't see the soldiers coming back home. This is exactly what they want, a diminishing of the national arms and the displacement of soldiers. Domestic terrorism is next, with the solution probably being either ship more troops our, or enforcement by "peacekeepers" similar to the German soldiers for hire.

It's not looking good...

First of all, do you have any idea what may have been going on? Do you know where they were going? It seems to me that most of the vehicles were pulling over to let them by. You know what that indicates? That there must have been something going on. As someone who spent a tour as a gunner on a hummer in Baghdad, I can tell you that all Iraqis know damn well that we will not hesitate to move them out of the way instead of stopping. Also, we do our best to record information on the vehicles that were hit and if there are damages they know how to go about having us pay for them.

Also, it is a little hard to tell with the obscene music layered over the audio, but the driver of the hummer was laying on his horn the entire time.

They know to move just like all Americans know to move when an emergency vehicle gets behind them.
