A Love Not Meant To Be

Desire uncoils herself from the bottom of my glass
Stretching forth on slender frame
She reaches up and slaps me persuasively
Screaming words best left unsaid
I follow her gaze
The temptress starts her sultry dance
Turning ordinary objects into perverse affairs
Entranced in siren song, I rise
Leaving Desire hurling obscenities in my general direction
I take Hopeless Abandon by her hand
We dance a dance of stolen time and whispered passions
A dance of timeless step and unending song
Where every second lasts an hour
And every minute is a day
Our speech a clandestine language
Known to lovers and lovers alone
Yet the notions spilling from my mouth are not mine
Rather this female Svengali coerces me to bare the essence of my soul
She alludes me to believe the world is mine for just a word
Still I scream in silence
But even endless time ends and every dreamer wakes
And we are torn apart again
To be left with nothing but empty promises
And the stale taste of beer
For Reality swings wide the door
Allowing mornings light to penetrate nights fantasy
Violating every fiber of my body
Every single pore emitting the putrid stench
Of ardor and shame
I begin to weep the bitter tears of loneliness
Desire shuts the door
She caresses my mind and turns off the light

I too, have experienced make-believe splendor rising from the depths
of my wine glass. And just as you described, ordinary takes become
tumultuous yearnings.

Great involvment ! I was aboard your train !

I don't know how I missed this one for so long. What "passion and feeling" you have put forth in your writing...It pulled me in. The only part that gave me a little speed bump was the beer, I thought it should have been wine....but that's me
Great work!
