I can't believe this happened but the legendary Mike Wieringo passed away my fellow members, the reason I couldn't believe it at first was that he was one of my influences and one of the artists that led me into doin' art. He'll truely be missed by those of us who have been comic fans , if I ever had the chance to meet him in person I would have thanked him for all he has done, his legacy will never be forgotten since he has alote of artists out there (myself included) who will go on to be great artists under his image. He passed at the young age of 44

..on the list of greatest or best (comic) artists...

One name that I think has been overlooked is..

Al Williamson

He was a contempoary of Frazetta in the 1950's

in the 80's and 90's he did a bang up job on the

Star Wars and Blade runner comics

adaptations...

He has always been the one artist that was truly working

in the vein of Alex Raymond...

Thanks for postin' back amigo 'cause it's been awhile since we've last chatted with each other. Thanks for your addition and the link ya put up, his work reminds me of all the other great artists of the silver age/golden age. For some reason I'm a fan of the old comics from that era, and the comics that came out in the late 80's and the early 90's, to me that was the peak of comics in terms of everyone gettin' comics and all that, now comics are just used as a steppin' stone for Hollywood flicks, some movies are great and the rest end up goin' down the toilet. I didn't like when "M" and "DC" did cross overs 'cause the storylines weren't as enjoyable but the artwork was great, I loved the Spiderboy stuff but the rest seemed like it was done just for the money that comics was generating at the time, hope ya stop by again 'cause I really missed ya !!

...One of the very best artists working in the field today, IMO is

Adam Hughes...

He's also something of a "good girl" artist...!

...One artist that I seem to have overlooked , until now is...

Mark Schultz. His art echoes and pays homage to

great E.C. comics artists like Frazetta, Reed Crandall

and Wally Wood...

Cool stuff...

I haven't gone through all the posts to see if anyone has chosen this guy.

He received the National Cartoonist Society Special Features Award for 1981 and 1982, and was inducted into the Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2004.

He has a simple yet bizarre style. I grew up with his humor. His onomatopoetic sound effects :

BONK ( my daughters first word)
BLORT
FRAK
FWAP, etc... haunt me to this day !!
