They grade the road to keep it smooth. Nothing sinister about it.
There are quite a few errors in the video. I don't know where to start. Dreamland refers to the airspace, not the ground. In fact, the guy doing the
video confuses the restricted airspace (R) with the land borders. They are two different things. You can drive up to the signs, get out and look
around. At the People's Rally, we had at least 50 people by the signs. There is no need to quickly turn around.
What this video isn't showing is the guard shack around the bend.

You need to carefully climb a hill on the border to see the guard shack. [If you screw up on the climb, you might cross the border.] Once you are well
up the hill, the camo dudes will approach your car and try the locks. It pisses me off, which of course is why they do it.
The Groom Lake employees like to drive like jerks if you encounter them on Groom Lake road. That is, if you are standing by the signs, expect them to
go out of their way to cover you with road dust.
This drive is much more fun at night.
