Car On Fire Driven Into Glasgow Airport Terminal

Wow, the image Sky News just put up it looked like they were trying to drive INTO the terminal through the doors

GLASGOW, Scotland - Two cars crashed outside Glascow’s international airport Saturday, with one of them bursting into flames, police said.

The cars collided outside the main terminal at Glasgow International Airport, Strathclyde Police spokeswoman Lisa O’Neil said. “One car is on fire, but it is not clear if it went inside the terminal building,” she said.

I think that's a fact, they were seen hitting the entrance square on.
Why they would try and take out the canisters i don't get, seconds thoughts perhaps?

All seems very unprofessional.

Loam this could make the UK like bagdad... its terrible and I hope everyone is vigilant... no reports of causualties though an eye witness on SKY, though she was very upset said she saw casualties on the floor.

BBC is now showing a picture that clearly shows an explosion as it enters the building.

A jeep is clearly seen on fire at the doors of the terminal. I don't see another vehicle there. An eyewitness is talking to Sky News right now on the phone and he saw the jeep go in.

Also the public helped "wrestle" the two men to the ground.

No reports of casualties - although terminal building has suffered smoke damage.

Main concern seems to be with regards disruption to flights.

SKY NEWS reports that FOUR people have been arrested by Strathclyde Police.

As far as casualties go, at least one person has been taken away by ambulance

They are reporting that 4 people have been arrested.

And the car drove at least 30mph at the entrance, so certainly intended.

Frank Gardner the very well connected and respected security expert for the BBC has stated that "Whitehall" sources stating that they are treating this purely as a police matter and of no national security importance!!

confirmed yes 4 arrests... which is strange as only two men were in the car by eyewitness accounts.

This has to be terrorist related if eyewitness reports are true. the vehicle is said to have crashed into the safe zone around 30 mph and one of the occupants is alleged to have trown gas on the jeep/car after it hit.

I'm not so sure about Frank Gardner to be honest some of his reporting has been spun before and is not as accurate as say Mark Urban.

For some reason there seems to be a 'play it down' attempt going on attempt especially in the BBC news 24 reporting but the pictures and video (on SKY especially) keep showing contrary to police statements etc.

BBC News 24 live now an eyewitness account who is an maintanence man, his collegue said that he saw the two men pouring petrol around the car, and spreading petrol everywhere!

ON BBC NEWS 24 second eyewitness stating that he definately saw the driver when he got out pouring petrol over himself and the car and surrounding area... 2 seperate eye witness accounts of this now.

Man tried to drive into Glasgow airport: witnesses Updated Sat. Jun. 30 2007 11:42 AM ET GLASGOW, Scotland -- Witnesses have told the British news media that a motorist tried to ram a Cherokee Jeep in flames into the main terminal building of Glasgow airport today. The British Broadcasting Corp. says witnesses described an SUV driving at full speed toward the terminal building with flames pouring out from the car. The BBC says the airport was evacuated and all flights suspended. SKY News television says another witness reported that the car was stopped by security barriers and police tackled a man who fled from the car. TV footage showed flames and huge plumes of black smoke rising from the building. Police, however, are saying only that two cars collided outside the airport around 3:15 p.m., with one of them bursting into flames.

Seems the reports are varied... can't be too difficult to know whats going on surely!
