Here's a list of famous Canadians:

List of famous Canucks

I wonder if those that are still with us on the list, still celebrate Canada Day, even if they moved out of the country? - William Shatner, Keanu Reeves, Pamela Anderson, etc. etc..

We're going to see the fireworks from Spencer Smith Park - Lake Ontario on Sunday nite. It's a whopping 1 min. walk to there lol. Last year we hung around a Burlington high-hilled graveyard over-looking... (umm...before anyone gets any ideas, this was a strategic viewing spot that became pretty popular for viewing the 'fireworks barge' in the Hamilton Bay). We didn't want to drive alllllll the way around the Burlington/Hamilton bend, and pay for parking in Hamilton, so we went 'el cheapo' and parked our arses on the hill to see the spectacular display! We could hear the music (sound travels pretty good across the water) and it had a pretty powerful affect in conjunction with the fireworks.

Ontario Place should be pretty wild on Canada Day. These people go 'all out' with pyrotechnics, and they have a great music ensemble to go with the fireworks as well. As far as I know, they still host a good show to date.

We're going to have a BBQ feast on the weekend. Ahhh the smell of steak grilling away...(pulling a homer simpson drool now) and the kids are going to swim in the campground pool and hang around the Rec centre.

The weather is going to be great around here for at least a week (the humidy 'bouncer' came in and escorted the scoundrel outta here) - so sayeth the weather channel buddies. Bout freaking time!

Hey Duckster! The best part for me is the playground is just across the street from my house, and this is where they set up the fireworks. If the bugs are too bad we just come inside and watch from our window!

Strategic Viewing Locations

"Read my lips..."

Ok.. not gonna pull a George Sr. Bush here...lol (jeese what was I thinking?)

Sounds like you lucked out on a great spot!

Access? I have 2 words for you:

Bug tents.

These babies are great for not only setting up around a picnic table, but great EVERYWHERE against the Battle of the Bugs. Check around for good prices. Trust me...they work wonders!

Oh .. I almost forgot to mention.

Do you have any 'drive-by-partyiers'? These are the people um.. Ok.. let me explain:

Every celebratory event that happens along the way, there are certain individuals that like to drive by an area, stop and light fireworks (in the wee hours of the morning) speed away like freakin maniacs, and leave us bewildered all to hell...

As of late, hubby and I can almost time these party freaks like clockwork. Don't know who-the-hell they are, and they don't destroy property or anything detrimental, but you can pretty well set your watch to the hour of when these nutbars come leaving their calling card. Hubby and I just shake our heads and laugh our guts up.

Burlington? We've got many members in the area. DeusEx is from Oakville, Par is from Toronto, I'm just north of Milton. LOADS of us from the Golden Horseshoe.

Edit: BTW Deus is training in the military as we speak. Thoughts for him please.

Dang...can't get out of it that easy eh?

For shame Ducky...what was I thinking?

Alrighty...here's a little game that I propose:

Anyone caught using caps to 'any degrees' tonite is forced to 'take a swig' from ones' favorite brewerage (me thinks someone should start a thread on adding new words to webster and oxford et al)

Edit to add: 'Any mispelled words are subject to fair game; grammatical errors are the mods call'

My thoughts and prayers are with you Deus. If you can read this online, know that a lot of us are very proud of you. We most certainly are.

Intrepid, tell your friend that we wish him the utmost!

When this long weekend holiday comes and goes, sometimes we (and me too) forget that it's not quite 'that' celebratory for a lot of people; especially in the military (trainees especially)

It will be a hectic few days for us.
We'll be going to the festival at Gage Park in Hamilton, and have a BBQ planned after that. Sunday is dinner with some relatives, and I think I'll take Monday off to recover.

All this is dependent on whether we can get the snow off the roads in time.
But Canadians are a hearty bunch of people, and we've never let a little snow stop us from having fun.

We just get out bigger boots when necessary.
